June 13 is the feast of St Anthony of Padua. One of the most popular saints of all. Here is a prayer for good times and bad times ...
Dear Saint Anthony, I extend my prayer to you, confident in your compassionate goodness, which can listen and console everyone: be my intercessor before the Lord.
You who led an evangelical life, help me to live mine with faith and Christian hope; you who preached the message of charity, inspire the whole of humanity to search for peace and br...otherhood; you who supported, even through miracles, the suffering and all those who were facing injustice, please sustain the poor and the forsaken of this world.
Bless especially my work and my family, taking away illnesses of body and soul; make me capable of always remaining close to God, both in times of joy or sorrow, with the faith and the love of a child.
Amen!

Bishops urge voting in Euro elections
European Bishops have called on all EU citizens to engage in the political process, to exercise their discernment and to vote at the 2019 European elections.
The Bishops of COMECE (the episcopal conferences of the EU states) state: “The EU elections offer a great opportunity to make the political choices that will foster a renewed brotherhood amongst people, relaunching the European project”.
... "European Bishops call upon all believers and people of good will not to fall into the temptation of inward looking but to exercise their rights and question candidates on their personal engagement for human dignity for all.
"The EU is facing important challenges and uncertainty. To be able to address them, Europe needs to rediscover its common identity and be protective of persons, families, and cultures, specialy of the most vulnerable..."

"It seems extraordinarily insensitive to plan such controversial marches past churches which will be full of people, knowing the anxiety and fear which will be caused to worshippers and the wider community.
"After the distressing scenes of last year in this precise location, sensitivities are high.
"Many regard the planned marches as unduly provocative. We would trust that the police will take these issues into consideration when offering advice to the city council on how to proceed."
