St. Andrews Cathedral 30th June 2-3.30pm - a pageant to celebrate the 700th anniversary of the Cathedral. Tickets (free) from eventbright.co.uk
The Museum of the University of St. Andrews (MUSA) is closing on 30th June for approx. 18 months for a major refurbishment.
Just back from Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island in Canada exploring where many Scots went at the end of the 18th and in the 19th centuries - some willingly, some forcibly - Highland Clearances. We heard Gaelic and went to ceilidhs and visited the excellent Alexander Graham Bell museum in Baddeck, Cape Breton Island - he was, of course, the Edinburgh born man who invented the telephone. On return I found St. Andrews bathed in warm summer sunshine!
Superb gardens at the historic Earlshall Castle at Leuchars
The magnificent gardens at Balcarres were open today through Scotland's Garden Scheme.
Excellent garden and cafe!
Visited an exciting new tourist attraction yesterday near the Peat Inn- Bowbridge Alpacas - excellent! Hope some of my clients will sign up for that. #bowbridgealpacasscotland www.bowbridgealpacas.com
Wonderful daffodils at Backhouse Rossie Estate Gardens. An absolute gem of a garden and a good cafe too!
St. Andrews recce today ahead of the main guiding season - 3 tours booked this week. What's new? - audio guides coming to the castle, the cathedral has a new mini-audio visual display, the golf museum has an exhibition on Henry Cotton and MUSA (the University Museum) has an exhibition on philanthropy. Spring could be here - people picnicking on the beach and fulmars nesting on the cliffs.
After a long winter, spring has now arrived in St Andrews.
