We visited the recently revamped 'shed with its new tasting menu format. The idea of sharing around and tasting everything is a welcome and refreshing change to the normal '3 course meal' setup and manages to create a far more relaxed and social dining experience. The choice available on the menu is excellent and there seems to be something for everyone on it. The staff were more than pleasant, utterly helpful and knowledgeable about the food and beers on offer. Although we didn't sample every dish on the menu, the food we did order was utterly delicious and cooked to perfection - the deserts were a personal highlight. Overall a great, professional and beautifully presented restaurant we shall definitely visit again.

User

We visited in January using an itison voucher. For some reason they had no note of our booking but this was not an issue to the efficient friendly staff. The food was very good with large portions. They happily catered to us as vegetarians and made a huge fuss of our ridiculous dog. We would definitely visit again

User

Very friendly bar & staff, good food and great beer.

User

The food was fine dining at pub prices. And the dessert was mind blowing totally recommend to come here when in Edinburgh

User

One of the nicest places I've been to, so relaxed and informal with such a friendly atmosphere and staff that you immediately feel at home. The food? Well, what can I say other than awesome !!! All the dishes were served piping hot and straight from the kitchenmy favourite? Hard to say as they were all amazing but the pot roast pigeon was spectacular well done to all involved with this great place, deserves the best of success

User

My partner and I went in last night for dinner. Cannot fault the service we received all evening, from the moment we arrived to the time we left. the waitress was very attentive and we were not disappointed. We ordered from the winter dinner menu and must say it was beautiful. The choice on the menu is excellent and we were delighted with our food. the starters were delicious from the cullenskink and the ox cheek and tongue. the main meals we had were the roe deer and the shin of beef. we enjoyed them immensely. the portion size was perfect and we were completely full up. our friends met us and we stayed for the live music. an amazing night was had by all so would definitely highly recommend this place and will book in again soon.

User

My friend's and I ate there last night. I was initially hesitant to go back as I wasn't impressed by the food there before the re-vamp but wow, what a transformation!

At first glance the menu seems a little odd but it's actually a genius grown up pick and pix, sorry tapas style, which I find very appealing. We ordered two dishes each, the waitress kindly prepared us on the size of the dishes but we explained that we were saving room for dessert.

Each dish was superbly presented, freshly prepared and very tasty indeed but not in an overcomplicated pompus way. It's my ideal, good food sourced, prepared and presented perfectly, and I'm a real foodie fuss pot, often underwhelmed by eating out. All except one dish were veggies which wasn't because we're veggies (well one is) but because the dishes were so tempting, aubergine fritters...yum!

Dessert was filling (but we saved room so were prepared) and also stunning and tasty. I feel our lovely meal was good value too which is always a bonus.

The staff were very good, attentive but not pests which can sometimes happen. Dug friendly too, we'll be back! :)

User

Loved the food and the atmosphere here last night. Not your typical menu which initially feels quite limited however the food was impressive in taste and presentation. The chefs were more than accommodating to help with dietary requirements and the service from the staff was spot on. Great concept - (love the golden syrup tins for cutlery holders)!

User

I was here for a meal off the Christmas menu on the4 the of Dec 2015 and the Food was superb, serving staff very attentive and beer choice outstanding all for a very reasonable price, this is what Christmas meals should be like. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I have one gripe however, only one Brussel sprout with the beef main course (perfectly cooked I might add)... Come on fling in a couple more!

User

Great place to dine enjoy good music and very good food . Staff very knowledgeable about craft beers & ales .staff very friendly well mannered and nothing to much trouble if you need anything . Great new menu can't wait to try when we next visit from london at the end of august the potting shed will be our forst stop .

User

Great atmosphere that is added to with live music and great staff. Defo a place to go with friends or as a couple for food or drinks!

User

Great atmosphere due to awesome beer, great food and amazing live music. What a place.

Great Value with Fantastic Food and Service

We visited Wednesday evening for our last meal in Edinburgh before heading home. We had an ITISON voucher which provided great value. What a pleasant surprise the quality of the food was outstanding coupled with attentive knowledgeable service. There is a superb selection of beers and regular offers on cocktails. We previously visited when it was the potting shed. I think the standard of food has definitely improved. We will definitely return when we are back in Edinburgh. If you can grab an itison voucher while you can and make the most of it this wish I could but it’s a bit far from Surrey.

User

A really beautiful place ! Good vibes, very nice barmans, and good food !

User

The staff will make you any cocktail you like and if you don't like it they will remake it or add a little extra flavour to make it to your liking. I found the food brilliant and the staff super friendly and would recommend it to anyone.

User

Great beer. We popped in during the festival for a pint. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable.

User

What happened to all the interesting and beautifully presented dishes you used to serve? I can go anywhere for an average burger, a pizza... a fish and chips (although I have to admit your fish and chips was good), still - you can get a good one loads of places! All I would say is the wine list is good, as for the food I'd say why have you simplified the menu to a mind numbing gastro pub experience?

User

Came in with a big group after we booked a table for a special event. No bar menus for drinks, food menus were half of what was online. Food was tiny servings, get two mains if you are hungry. Dessert was store bought and just arranged on the plate. No table service for drinks, only food. Can certainly do better in Edinburgh... Disappointed

User

I actually hate this place! They dont give two hoots about playing blaring music in a residential area. Don’t care about people who have young kids trying to get to sleep, the noise police have been in touch several times to ask them to keep the noise at a minimum, but they choose to keep ignoring this even thought they have a licence that that states they cannot play music that disturbs neighbours! Very inconsiderate.
