St Andrew's First Aid volunteers will be at Mothercare St. Enoch (Glasgow) this Sunday 4th August, sharing important baby first aid skills with expectant parents. If you would like a little extra support before your big day, please head along to this event and Mothercare UK will be more than happy to support you.

Do you know a first aid Champion you could nominate for the Scottish First Aid Awards? We're looking for either individuals or community groups who have helped champion #firstaid in their community by hosting workshops, fundraising for public access defibrillators, or helping to arrange training days at their school or community groups.

THOUGHT PIECE: How many more tragic events do we need to read about before first aid becomes an obligatory skill?
''Every day, around 40 children under the age of five are rushed to hospital after choking on something, usually food. Often it can be completely silent with no sound to warn you something is wrong.
''Deaths relating to child choking are mainly preventable and it takes just a few hours of time to teach someone how to confidently provide the right first aid support... to a choking child.
''Yet, according to the latest available information from the Care Inspectorate Annual Report 2018, a quarter (25 per cent) of all nurseries and childcare providers in Scotland have no first aid trained employees to deal with child related first aid incidents.''

We were thrilled to again be a part of the Family Day at Hamilton Park Racecourse at the weekend. Our amazing First Aiders worked with more than 200 members of the public, equipping them with #CPR skills and passing on life-saving tips and advice.
