About St Andrews Muslim Students Association

Asalamualaykum & welcome to the St Andrews Muslim Students Association (STAMSA)!

“Read! In the Name of your Lord, who created (all that exists); created man from a clot. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous” (Qur’an 96: 1-3).

As you begin your eventful journey in university in pursuit of knowledge (an important pursuit which in Islam is signified by the verse above), student societies play a vital role in helping you achieve your goals and targets whether it be acquiring knowledge or gaining life experiences.

Among the many student societies present in St Andrews is an association dedicated to teaching about Islam and engaging in dialogue with and offering resources to all students. Regardless of your religious or ethnic background, the St Andrews Muslim Students Association will always be able to offer you something.

Our events range from pot-lucks, festive celebrations, knowledge circles, Islamic awareness weeks, charity events and many more! Therefore, all are welcome & invited to be part of this charitable Muslim students association.

The prayer rooms in St Andrews are located on the first floor of the Chaplaincy (Mansefield Building) which is situated opposite the St Andrews Students' Union. There are two prayer rooms labelled Klibreck (Sisters' room) and 'Islamic Society Prayer Room' (Brothers' room). Friday Prayers take place during term time in Lochnagar on the ground floor. There are bathroom and wudhu facilities on both floors. Turbahs are provided in both prayer rooms for those requiring to use them.

The buliding can be accessed by members of the public weekdays from 8am-5pm (by pressing the button besides the entrance). Weekend access is only possible with a matriculation card. Students and staff can use their card to enter the Chaplaincy throughout the week up until 10pm
