St Devenick'S Playgroup Description
The playgroup provides a safe, stimulating and enjoyable pre-school experience for children aged 2½ to school age, for a minimum of 2-5 mornings a week 9. 10-12. 20pm. It is our hope that all our children will enjoy the friendly environment and learn new skills together.
It is also an opportunity for parents to get involved in their child’s pre-school education and forge positive links with other parents. Children are left at the playgroup as with nursery.
St. Devenick’s Playgroup was established over 40 years ago in 1969 and is a member of the Scottish Pre-School Association (SPPA). It is managed by an elected committee of parents in accordance with SPPA guidelines. We are registered with the Care Commission who carries out an annual inspection and every 3 years we have a joint Care Commission and HMI for schools inspection. We are a non profit organisation and are registered with the Scottish Charitable Organisation, (No: SCO 16621).
The hall provides spacious, warm and pleasant accommodation. There is off road parking within the grounds. We also have a secure outside play area where children are encouraged to play when weather permits and where we have established our own planted garden area with the children.
At Playgroup we follow the guidelines laid down by the Scottish Executive in the Curriculum for Excellence. This curriculum deals with the developmental needs of children from the time they enter pre-school education.
