St. Margarets Scottish Episcopal Church, Newlands, Glasgow Description

We are a suburban church with a diverse congregation and a distinctly cultural leaning. We like to think of ourselves as inclusive, non-judgemental and affirming. All are welcome to explore faith (and doubt) and to come to a deeper understanding of God and God’s call in our own lives.

The first in what’s hoped to be a series of classic film showings and post-film discussions will be of Ingmar Bergmann’s “The Seventh Seal”. Set during the crusades, “The Seventh Seal” stars Max von Sydow as a knight returning to his homeland, only to find death himself standing there. To avoid his death, the knight challenges the spirit to a game of chess which continues through the film as he journeys through medieval Sweden, questioning his life and God’s place in it. This film will be shown in the Church and will be followed by an open discussion on it. FREE pizza provided

It's been a joy having Lee Johnston serve with us at St Margaret's during his training. He combines a faithfulness to the traditions of the church, with an openness to see God working in new ways, and will be a blessing to the Scottish Episcopal Church.

The choir year ends with a Festal Evensong joint with our friends from Hamilton, Pollokshields, the RSCM Scottish Voices and Glasgow Chamber Choir, celebrating the centenary of the death of Sir Charles Hubert Parry. The service will include his Canticles in D, his coronation anthem "I was Glad" and some of his most beloved hymns. Please join us for this service and festive reception in the hall afterwards.

It was lovely to have Susan from Home-Start Glasgow South visiting this morning, and running a craft session for our Sunday School.
