Torn From Home - Holocaust Memorial Day St Mungo Museum of Religious Life & Art Thursday 31 January 1000 - 1500 #HMD2019
... Holocaust Memorial Day (27th January) was established as an international day of commemoration in 2000, as on this day in 1945 Auschwitz was liberated. Since then, St Mungo Museum of Religious Life & Art in Glasgow has sought to commemorate this day through educational work, engaging schools with collections connected to the Holocaust and subsequent genocides.
Torn from Home - is the theme of this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day. Second Year Pupils from both Rosshall Academy and St Andrew’s Secondary Schools in Glasgow will be hosting this year’s conference on 31st January 2019 at St. Mungo’s Museum of Religious Life and Art.
At the event which will be delivered to over 60 P7s from St Rose of Lima and St Bridget’s Primary Schools pupils will engage in creative writing workshops, music and arts and crafts where they will explore the theme of HMD as well as listening to stories told by a living Holocaust and another genocide survivor.
