St Wilfrid'S C Of E Academy Description
St Wilfrid's Church of England Academy serves the whole of the Blackburn Diocese as an 11–18 Church of England High School. We became a Specialist School, as a Technology College in September 1997.
The education we provide is based on a strong Anglican tradition and is focused on continuous improvement and maximising the potential of every member of our family. A special relationship exists between the staff and pupils that guarantees the pupils’ right to learn, staff the right to teach and the right to safety for all. We also enjoy an excellent working partnership with Governors, Blackburn Diocese and the Blackburn with Darwen Education Authority. Through this excellent partnership we have completed the total rebuilding of the school on the Duckworth Street site. The school provides a building worthy of our Mission Statement as we work in partnership to make St Wilfrid’s a Beacon for Church education nationally.

SOCIAL MIXING TRIP
Some of our students have been in Belfast the last couple of days with Blackburn Rovers Community Trust as part of the social mixing project. We're looking forward to hearing about what they've learnt and experienced over there!

ATHLETICS SUCCESSES
We've had some brilliant student performances on the track this last week. Despite the poor weather and miserable conditions, our students have excelled and competed with everything they had. Some highlights from the Lancashire Schools meet at the weekend were:
Libby Forest-Yates - Shot - 4th place with 7.97... George Whittaker - Discus - 2nd place with 32.64 Hayden Mercer - 800m - 1st place with 2.11.4 Ben Boocock - 80m Hurdles - 2nd place with 11.9s
And then last night:
Y7 Emmanuel Jesse - 2nd Issy Hartley - 3rd Rouguiatou Diallo - 2nd
Y8 Holly Turner - 2nd Emily Mercer - 3rd
Y9 Ben Boocock - 2nd (despite equalling the record) Sam Mutumbo - 4th Rachel Jesse - 1st Danielle Probert - 4th
Y10 Cole Page -1st Daniel Oliver - 2nd Katie Rothera - 2nd
All students have had a great attitude and been a real credit to the Academy. Well done!!
