User

Two of us dined here and we were extremely impressed with the service and the pleasantness of the staff. The food was excellent. Plenty of it and well cooked to our liking. Three great courses finished off with coffee and fudge. Will be back.

User

Second visit in two trips to Edinburgh...and it will remain on our list for future visits! Always made to feel like you’ve arrived at someone’s home to dine with friends and family, Stac Polly is simply one of the top restaurants in Edinburgh and a phenomenal experience.

User

Our meal was Amazing would definitely recommend it a touch of class

User

My daughter bought us a voucher for christmas and it proved to be a real treat. Cosy restaurant with lovely atmosphere and attentive, friendly staff. Food delicious & fresh and I have to say it was the best pheasant I've ever tasted. Will be back.

User

It's been a while since our last visit but it was just as we remembered. Wide choice on the menu and they reacted positively to by veg predicament! Portion size was a surprise.....they were huge! Steak cooked to perfection for me which is well-done and not tough as old boots We earwigged at another table and they said that the chef went out of his way to accommodate a variety of food allergies/intolerances. Pricewise not as expensive as i thought so well within budget Another visit is a must next time we are in town.

User

Had this restaurant recommended by our hotel concierge.

Delicious 3 course meal tonight - highly recommended. I'm sure we'll be back again!

User

Best restaurant bar none in Scotland. The food and service are beyond anything I've experienced so far North of the Border.

User

An awesome, perfect meal (scallops and fillet steak) with gorgeous wine and amazing service! Highly recommended!

User

The space is traditional, stylish, restrained, yet progressive.

So, tonight we dine at the fine establishment which was highly recommended by a good friend. That we booked via their website, with reply confirmation, yet no record of a booking on arrival was amateurish. But I dither.

A bottle of Perrier Jouet to start really establishes the mood - it makes everything just a little more sparkly.

The simple home made baguette and French butter was so good.

The entree of haggis in wontonesque filo parcels and plum sauce was delightful, whilst the duck breast with rich game jus was spectacular. Not to mention the 2013 Le Mercurey Burgundy and the Sauternes to finish.

Well played ninja.

Only disappointment, which was staggering, was the passionfruit Creme Brûlée. It arrived as lemon curd. Zero passionfruit. Gluggy. Horrid. Yuck. The dessert alone diminished the whole experience from a 4.5/5 to a 3.5/5. It also failed the back of the spoon toffee tap test, which tells me it was made yesterday.

Also the sheer pace of the courses was overwhelming. We hadn't finished the fancy champagne before the mains arrived. We hadn't finished the fancy burgundy before desserts arrived. CTFD. Overly exuberant kitchen detracted from the metre of the experience. The maitre 'd needs to control the flow better. Why so eager to be rid of us? Felt very rushed.

User

Well, very nice place, but I must say that the quality of food is not worth at all those prices...plus the staff could smile a little more...

The annoying thing is the 10% tip includd if you don't tell the staff not to include it: ver imbarassing to have to tell don't put 10%....

For the level supposed needed improvement

User

The food was excellent but very expensive, you can get the same Scottish menu experience from howies or the whiski rooms at a more reasonable price
