One of our girls, Aindrea Kirkhope, is part of the Fizz 2019 team in Uganda this week.

At the service this morning Aindrea Kirkhope told us about her final preparation for participating in the FIZZ journey to Uganda. Planned by Girls Brigade Europe, Aindrea is representing Scotland . as part of a group of 13 GB leaders from the UK. They will be teaching in two local schools, facilitating menstrual health workshops, visiting a water drilling project as well as supporting local GB companies.

Elder and choir member Mitchel Manson began his cycle trip across Zambia today with a 45 mile target for the day. He is raising funds for EMMS International and their work supporting hospice care in Zambia. The intrepid 82 year old is on his third sponsored cycle trip since retirement. Stockbridge Summer Solstice: Lots of smiles as thousands of people, of all ages and from every part of the community, took over Raeburn Place today for a first traffic free day. We enjoyed wonderful weather, music from lots of folk including The Edinburgh Academy Pipes and Drums, a fashion show, street games, charity stalls, magic tricks, facepainting, and a hula hoop revival. The church outreach space at Number 7 was the coordination centre for the day, supporting volunteers, and offering a welcome cake and information to the crowds passing by.

What would it be like if Raeburn Place were free of traffic? Imagine no longer, Stockbridge will be free of cars on Sunday June 23rd for music and games, and other activities. The activities start at 12pm, just as our Sunday worship ends, on two stages and all along Raeburn Place. Our outreach centre at Number 7 will be open as the coordination centre, and first aid post. We've enjoyed being pay off the organisation of the day. Now we want everyone to come along, make friends, and be part of the church's presence on the street.

At the Fresh Start Garden Party today, celebrating 20 years of supporting the homeless. This past year volunteers have given 8000 working hours, the organisation has helped 1800 people out of homelessness. The tragedy is that so many are still homeless, and need the help offered. The challenge is to make Fresh Start unnecessary in the future. Our congregation currently collects food, kitchen utensils, bedding etc for the Starter Packs. As you do your clearout at home don't forget the collection boxes at church.
