great value amd great selection on the menu, much better than the previous carvery only. in the words of my kids they didnt like it THEY LOVED IT. will be returning very soon

We came last Sunday. It was very busy and no tables were available, then a member of staff came over, a polite girl with long brown hair. I'm sure her name was Danielle, quickly found us a table, (which was dirty as previous customers just left) She asked if we wanted to get drinks while she cleaned our table. Which was clean when we returned. The food was well cooked and very hot. I had beef which was nice and tender. The veg where nice and soft.

Would definitely come back.

Sunday Carvery is excellent and excellent value, chef who served us was miserable not a customer type person! Waiting/bar staff friendly.

Pizzas are absolutely spot on lad who made it forgot his name but made it perfectly recommend to anyone

I was on my way to the mermaid for carvery when my toddler decided to take a nap in the car. I remember seeing a sign for take out so went to check. The lad behind the bar said they had run out of boxes and they couldn't give plates as some previously had not been returned. A lady called Lyn stepped in and suggested pizza boxes which i was happy with as i was starving and just wanted to eat.once she realised i was just going to eat it in the car they let Lynn give me plates, popped the gravy in a cup and provided cutlery. To say i was happy is an understatement. I don't know any where else where you'd get such fantastic service but and be able to eat a carvery in the car. Top marks

Lovely helpful staff.

Members of staff very down to earth and welcoming. We we're able to book a table on line. The carvery selection looks great, there is an impressive pizza corner displaying a huge Stone Pizza Oven... I ordered the goats cheese and spinach pizza which came with red onion chutney.... This was to die for absolutely gorgeous!! My partner had a very impressive burger (the stepson) and the burgers were thick and succulent and very tasty. Two children's meals arrived and were great value for money... Especially as its a help yourself salad bar and chips from the carvery.... Great prices and value. Staff were quick and efficient at clearing the tables.



Drinks ranges are great including up to date trends on gins including Elderflower Gin and pink gin with a range of tonics.



We would defiantly recommend. And come again.

Food was really nice apart from we where eating our meal and my poor granson was waiting for a pizza which there forgot about till we asked where it was. And then my grandkids had ice cream and my daughter waited for chocolate brownie which there forgot about that as well. She asked about that as well it took so long so where just about to leave and he brought it over. So she just ended taking it home with her in a box.

We came yesterday 14th Nov about 615pm and was served by a very rude girl behd bar who just rolled her eyes at us when we informed her we had a fussy daughter who only wanted Yorkshire puddings and didn't really want to to help ( she did go and ask eventually) .. being friendly and smiling does not cost a thing.. no smile from carvery man too and gave me the dry bits of meat off end ....did not enjoy my meal after this!!

The carvery has slowly been going down hill for ages now and yesterday was the worse one the man cutting the meat just doesn't care dropping it all over and since when did mash have full potatoes in certainly put me off ever wanting to come back

Me and my husband have been regular customers to this place and it has never been like it was today gammon very chewy turkey and veg tasteless everything just tasted bland unfortunately I won't be returning any time soon

Been going for a number of years off and on always been delish but went today and it was garbage....crap choice...tasteless....queue for everything to be filled up really disappointed defo our last visit yuck

As I live very close its OK for a quick drink or to meet people there. I would not eat there as I have been disappointed before this is not just a resent thing it's over many years.

Went to the Mermaid yesterday it was very busy with a few tables reserved, so after finding a table whilst i waited for my daughter and partner a member of staff cane and asked me was i the party that had reserved that table i replied no its not reserved and she said it is i pointed out that there was no reserved on the table and she assured me it was (little did i know that was the powers above telling me to leave ) anyway i stood and waited for my daughter and her partner and the member of staff (who is a credit to the Mermaid) very kindly asked how many was in my company and found me a table .

I was getting a carvery and my three grandchildren all wanted chicken nuggets , i asked for the ВЈ5.79!carvery to be told its Sunday so it will be ВЈ8.29 okay and we havent any chicken nuggets!!!

Hardly any meat and cold bland veg not much variety either

Kids meals were okay

Then we order ice cream from the floor staff , 4 childrens ice crams please the member of staff came back with 4 glasses ВЈ11.96

Sorry we only wanted 4 childrens ice creams ВЈ1.49 each to be told again its Sunday and they are all ВЈ2.99 !!!

Absolutely ridiculous

Totally over priced carvery and i don't understand because it's Sunday there are no childrens ice cream?

My genuine advice is to swerve this place especially on a Sunday

I spent over ВЈ35.00 on 3 pizzas & a chicken burger to find there was no garlic sauce, no tomatoe ketchup and no chips. I brought this to the attention of the staff and said there was no garlic sauce! I then asked if there was any tomato ketchup which we were told there wasn't & requesting chips which took 10 minutes to come out resulting our food to be cold. Use need to get to grips with availability because most recently it's been a huge let down especially spending over ВЈ35.00 I feel like not coming back

Myself and family have visited a lot over the last few years but sadly today will be my last! The last twice IвҖҷve been IвҖҷve found it poor service poor quality of food and on a Sunday very overpriced for what you get!!.. the children carvery now comes on a plate which I feel is too small.. I appreciate the costings ets but for just under ВЈ4 the plate where tiny and my sons meal was all falling off the plate and the only other options is adults size in which a six year old I donвҖҷt wish to pay ВЈ8 odd for.. but the ВЈ4 option might as well be for a baby for what you can put on it...not all people want to cram there plate high just have a nice meal!! Secondly my gripe is the veg!! ItвҖҷs vile and cold.. slimy chattering carrots are just unappetising and black bits in the mash cold potatoes and the onions with outer skin on.. just a poor meal and the cost of over ВЈ8!! There is now sadly better carvery pubs in the are.. the concept of pizza and carvery seems to be too much and weather thatвҖҷs why itвҖҷs gone down hill IвҖҷm not sure but moan over.. sorry I wonвҖҷt be returning unless better value and better quality.. someone clearly dosent have the eye on the ball or has lost interest in what was a pub at the top off there game!! Not any more

I have just left the Mermaid. Totally disgusted! My son ordered a chicken burger whilst others ordered a carvery. After half an hour wait, we went to ask where the burger was - (the Mermaid give you a remote buzzer to say your meal is ready) - so, first they said they forgot to make it, then, then said someone else took it. Of course we got our money back but this is no where near an adequate apology. How is it possible for someone else to take the meal when they are meant to have a remote buzzer? Why, if they knew that someone else had taken the meal why didn't they come and tell us? It is safe to say we will NOT be back in that dump again. It will be interesting to see if this even gets a reaction from the management. To top it all too, on leaving the rear car park there was that much rubbish with bins overflowing it felt like we were in a council tip! The power of Facebook is amazing. lets hope management act upon this.

Been a returning customer since I was a child! final nail in the coffin for a restaurant whoвҖҷs good food has seen a steady decline over the past 4 months yet Iv returned to for hit and miss food/service, entered today, table was still dirty from last customers despite being empty (maybe 10-20 people in the whole building) my partner ordered a Mac and cheese which came looking and tasting worse than most microwave meals. My Calvary the beef was more fat and tough veins of cartledge running through than edible meat. From a returning customers of the mermaid of over 10 years I can honestly say I wonвҖҷt be returning again unless there is a change of management or brand!

I have just left the Mermaid. Totally disgusted! My son ordered a chicken burger whilst others ordered a carvery. After half an hour wait, we went to ask where the burger was - (the Mermaid give you a remote buzzer to say your meal is ready) - so, first they said they forgot to make it, then, then said someone else took it. Of course we got our money back but this is no where near an adequate apology. How is it possible for someone else to take the meal when they are meant to have a remote buzzer? Why, if they knew that someone else had taken the meal why didn't they come and tell us? It is safe to say we will NOT be back in that dump again. It will be interesting to see if this even gets a reaction from the management. To top it all too, on leaving the rear car park there was that much rubbish with bins overflowing it felt like we were in a council tip! The power of Facebook is amazing. lets hope management act upon this.

Been a returning customer since I was a child! final nail in the coffin for a restaurant whoвҖҷs good food has seen a steady decline over the past 4 months yet Iv returned to for hit and miss food/service, entered today, table was still dirty from last customers despite being empty (maybe 10-20 people in the whole building) my partner ordered a Mac and cheese which came looking and tasting worse than most microwave meals. My Calvary the beef was more fat and tough veins of cartledge running through than edible meat. From a returning customers of the mermaid of over 10 years I can honestly say I wonвҖҷt be returning again unless there is a change of management or brand!
