On Saturday the 15th of June we took donations for Kilbryde Hospice in East Kilbride where we raised £570.00 for the charity . The charity was nominated by the Provost who attended our special public event on the 70th Anniversary of the railway and Margaret our steam locomotive. Yesterday the 27th of June we handed over the cheque to the representatives of the charity with several of our members attending the ceremony along with Margaret our locomotive . Thank you to everyone who assisted in this great effort and to those present yesterday

Thank you to everyone who attended Saturday 15th for our Anniversary celebrations. On the day we were collecting donations for the Kilbryde Hospice in East Kilbride the final total was a magnificent £570.00 which will be presented to the hospice next week in the park. Thank you to all who donated to this event . Attached some more pictures of the special day with the Provost at the helm of Margaret. A close up of Margaret and a train load of guests. We also want to wish the happy couple who were in the park for some wedding photographs who had a picture taken beside Margaret. To the Bride and Groom we hope you have a long and happy marriage.

Thank you to the Provost, local business owners, the parks dept, members and friends who came to strathaven park today to formally commemorate our 70th Anniversary 🥳 with Margaret “the wee train”. The weather held (surprisingly well) and we enjoyed another lovely celebration. The miniature railway board would like to thank the public for their continued support of the railway, without the passengers paying their fare, we couldn’t maintain the trains. Special thanks to Marianne at The Tudor Coffee shop who, again, made us a fantastic cake. We appreciate all the support and look forward to having you visit the wee train 🚂 for many years to come.

Margaret 🚂
The locomotive that started it all. She has such a special place in lots of hearts, the smell of the steam, her chuff chuff sound, brings memories back for so many. She has her new shiny 70th Anniversary faceplate and it was a special moment to have Margaret side by side with the newest loco, Strathaven Castle on the tracks. Here’s to another 70 years of “the wee train”

We’ve had such a fantastic day at the railway celebrating our 70th Anniversary and “Margaret”. Members from clubs as north as Perth and as south as Carlisle and Middlesbrough visited with locomotives and guests. It’s great to bring the clubs together in the glorious strathaven weather. Special thanks to Dr Lisa Cameron M.P. who this morning raised an EDM in Westminster to highlight the Strathaven Railway’s achievements, and to Marianne at the Tudor who supplied our buffet and the amazing cake.

Margaret still going strong after 70 years

Today at 1pm marks 70 years since our steam train “Margaret” pulled out of the station for her first journey in the park.. And at 1pm today, she’ll do it again. Its a testament to the dedication of the volunteer engineers that she’s able to do it. If you are near the park today, pop along and give her a cheer as she chuff chuff’s on her way. Members will be there in preparation for our public fun day in June when everyone can celebrate “the wee train in the park”

Hamilton Advertiser 18th of April 2019 A full page of pictures about our two day visit to the Low Parks Museum hamilton earlier this month. Thank you to all of the museum staff who made this visit possible. We have seen some of the visitors at the museum now come up to Strathaven to have a ride on the railway. Thank you to them for making themselves known to us when they visited the park recently. A busy weekend ahead of us we hope with visitors to the park over the Easter Holidays. Come and see several of our locomotives either pulling passengers or on display on the steaming bays.
