Ahead of Sunday’s Smokehead takeover, we profile another variation and act to get you excited.
If the original Smokehead and Gus Munro was an assault on the senses, what comes next is an all out attack!!
Smokehead High Voltage has breath-taking intensity and is a red light for the faint of heart. A thumbs-up for those who don’t just enjoy the vigorous thump of the bass drum in their chest at a gig but savour the ringing in their ears afterwards.
... Breathe it in and feel the rush of spirit hit the senses and the nose prickle. Intense peat and smoke, maritime air, porridge oats, clean vanilla and toffee. A burn of hot spirit and the mouth fills with smoke, feeling almost thick with oiliness before softening and becoming creamier, with nutty, briny and citrus notes. The mouth is almost in shock, numb and tingling. A sweetness mixes nicely with the slowly fading smoke, leaving a salty tang.
The same numb, shock and tingling feeling comes from listening to the electric Kind of Blue. From thumping drums to an intense display on the guitars, they will draw you in before taking you on a rollercoaster of emotions. From Clapton to Hendrix, their mix of blues/rock will have the place bouncing.

Ahead of our Smokehead takeover on Sunday, we have 3 fantastic whiskies to profile and have paired each with one of our 3 fantastic acts.
Up first we have the Smokehead original Islay single malt. Alluringly left field and enticingly off kilter, this salty and seaweedy malt leads into an explosion of breathtaking peppery, peaty heat. Soothed by honeyed sweetness, before the smoke comes to the fire again. Exotic spices and a curious citrus tang of mandarin, both lull you into... a false sense of calm as the peat roars back to hit your senses again.
The same depth can be found with our first act of the night. Gus Munro’s emotional depth of music often displays a real sense of vulnerability. He is an artist who is not afraid to show his emotions and convey them through his music. A genuine warm and engaging performer, Gus will draw you into his world and compel you to listen.
