Good morning :-)

Skiing from the summit of K2 filmed by drone at 7-8,000 metres! High-altitude adventurer Andrzej Bargiel has become the first person to ski down from the summit of K2, descending from the world's second-highest mountain on Sunday. Bargiel cruised down from the Pakistani peak -- which stands at 8,611 m (28,251 ft) -- in a swift seven hours, having topped out on the summit after three and a half days of climbing without the aid of supplementary oxygen -- a feat unto itself.

Having more fun on the local via ferratas thanks to a great wee app, see https://m.facebook.com/groups/ViaFerrataE crinsBriancon . An amazing day on one of the local La Grave via ferratas, la Pisse. In total 500 metres of spectacular via Ferrata ascent alongside the free falling waterfall (cascade de la pisse) and 300 metres of unexpected via ferrata descent back to the start!

With all the dry hot weather recently we now get this!

When I was around that age it took the British army and the best rock climbers in the world to climb the Old Man for the first remote outside broadcast by the BBC circu 1966!!!

Over the past few weeks we've had fantastic settled sunny weather for mountain rock climbing in the Cairngorms - long may it continue :-)

Snow conditions are currently fantastic so don't miss out. There's still a few places available on the 27-31 Jan 2018 five day Scottish Winter Mountaineering course and on the 27-28 Winter Skills course.

We had a fantastic day out for our first experience of winter climbing last week with Ron. We have done a lot of summer rock climbing but have almost no winter walking or climbing experience but Ron explained everything very clearly and gave us a good idea of the additional knowledge and skills we would need to get out on our own.



We were very impressed with how flexible he was when the weather conditions meant that the date we booked (and the following day!) wouldn’t have suitable for what we wanted to do. Because of Ron’s flexibility we had a brilliant day climbing Jacobs ladder RHS in excellent winter conditions rather than a damp or windy walk lower down.



To top it all off he’s a pretty good photographer as well. We’ve got some great photos and videos to remember our day! Definitely hoping to come back next year for the 5 day winter mountaineering course.

We had a fantastic 5 days with Ron, he was extremely knowlegeable and gave us some brilliant guidance on various winter skills. His passion for the mountains and his ability to share his skills and knowledge are second to none. Ron was very patient, he has a great delivery technique and made everyone feel at ease. If you get the chance and you fancy a truly memorable experience in the mountains give Ron a call.

Ron also provided coaching which was really helpful for us in developing the skills to climb independently in the future. I recently took up climbing again in my sixties after a gap of more than thirty years. Had a great couple of days with Ron on sea cliffs at Cummingston and then climbing Final Selection at Stag Rocks in the Cairngorms. An excellent climb on a superb day. Found Ron an excellent guide and companion.

I found Ron a fantastic teacher and learnt so much from his winter skills course that I returned a few months later and with his help climbed a couple of routes in the Cairngorms , I hope to return as the conditions improve and enjoy more of what this stunning area has to offer .
