Tantallon Castle

Stronghold style castle, good amount of rooms to see. You can walk on the walls/battlements and see the dungeon. Really good view of the sea, coastline and the bird island with its lighthouse.

Enjoyed exploring this castle, just a shame Oliver Cromwell got here first and trashed the place. A nice place to chill out and to let your imagination run wild.

Really impressive ruin with amazing views of the whole surrounding area with high points at the top of the battlements and plenty of dark ground level areas to hide in. It also has some benches and resting places in the courtyard for a picnic and a rest.

There is potential for it to be very cold, but the high walls provide some great cover, it the weather looks cold, wear a warm jacket!

There's disabled access to the lower areas but if the ground is not dry, it may be difficult to get up and down the lawn.

Some phenomenal views over the bass rock.
Great place to explore too... Kids of all ages will love it

Great place to visit, amazing views of cliffs, sea and the Bass rock. Spent there couple of hours and had a plenty of fun with kids, claiming stairs, watching birds from the top, some scary dark places... enjoyed our visit...

Even though the castle is mostly a ruin, the towers are mostly intact and you can go all the way up for some stunning views of the ocean and the green meadows all around.

Entrance to the castle is free for Explorer Scotland pass holders.

The castle is a short bus ride from North Berwick. Beware there is only about 1 bus per hour so plan accordingly. If you're thinking of walking there, most of the way you'll be walking on the side of a highway, so taking the bus is definitely the safest and fastest option.

Stunning castle! The views are incredible and castle fascinating. It is pretty sizeable so plan some time and call ahead on windy days- that said, if you get cold easily bundle up- the top of the castle experiences strong winds off the sea and it's Scotland!

It was pretty, but it would've been better if the man himself DAZZLING DAVE where there he would've thrown a 13 ft yo-yo off of this castle.
