We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by the continuing problems with our phones, emails, and ICT systems since Tuesday evening. This was caused by a mains power cut. We continue to work to resolve the problems. We will post updates here, and on our City Council website. We will respond to emails, etc., as soon as we are able to do so. Thank you for your patience.

We have been informed by the Police that an 'Extinction Rebellion' protest event is anticipated in Cambridge on Saturday 15th December - starting at 10.00 am, from the Grafton Centre. The procession will proceed to the Grade Arcade, and then to Shire Hall on Castle Hill for an event.
It is anticipated there may be some minor traffic disruption as the procession passes - notably at St Andrew’s Street, and latterly Northampton Road / Castle Hill. The event organisers have advised that experienced and visible stewards will be present to assist with the safety of the procession.

Tinted windows on licensed vehicles
We’ve recently come across a couple of vehicles with a heavy tint on their rear windows. These are not in accordance with our policy and handbook as they restrict visibility to the passengers, and so they do fail the requirements. The garage will not be allowing any vehicles with such tints to pass their test, and so when considering buying a vehicle you should check to make sure that all windows, including the rear passenger and back windows, are all clear. The specific requirements are: ‘Have windows that permit maximum visibility into, and out of, the vehicle. They must have no more than 25% tint value.’

... - will be a silver base colour. - will have a ‘wrap’ of two gloss stripes, one placed either side of the vehicle and following the natural line of the vehicle. - the stripes will have a break either side on the front and passenger doors to allow for positioning of the crests. - the thickness of the stripes will differ between saloon and multi seater vehicles. - the strip will be ‘grass green’ in colour. - advertising permissions and other specifics are set down in the Taxi Policy and Handbook.
Private Hire Vehicles:
- will be excluded from being silver.
The timeframe for implementation for the Livery requirements was previously agreed at Licensing Committee on 9th July 2018, and detailed correspondence will be sent out to licence holders later on this week. The changes to the policy will take effect from 1st January 2019.
