we were there on Nov 7th,,, hotel was spotless and the room nicely decorated.though small. .we only booked for one night but it would have been cramped if we stayed longer . the elevator is old and slow .Two average size people and one suitcase fills it up. The breakfast buffet was one of the most abundant I have seen ....On the second floor we could not find our room .An arrow pointed in the direction but no room ...there was no signage to tell us we had to go through a fire door to the other corridor..The staff at reception and restaurant were very helpful and obliging. Our one complaint that ruined our stay was that the room windows had been left open and the heating was off.We had walked from the bus station in a cold rainy day and we were frozen .Looking forward to a nice warm room,,,the room was so cold we couldn't even sit on the beds or chair they were so cold ,we had to put a towel under our rearends ..our coats were wet so we hung them in the bathroom and it took hours for the room to heat up even then the cold had penetrated the beds and they were still freezing when we lay down at ten P.M..I cannot imagine who thinks it appropriate to turn off the heat and open the window in a hotel in the Scottish Highlands in November ,.sadly it ruined our little trip we will survive

User

Warm, welcoming and well-positioned hotel, five minutes walk from the station and the High Street. Our rooms were spotless, spacious and well appointed, with comfy beds and powerful showers.

Food at breakfast was plentiful and the hot buffet not only delicious, but also replenished right until the end of the breakfast period.

Choices on the 3 course set menu, (we were on an inclusive deal) provided something for everyone, and every meal was tasty, hot and promptly served by the friendly, willing restaurant staff.

The staff are the jewel in the crown at this hotel. Without exception, from reception staff to cleaning staff, they were helpful and cheerful and made it a pleasure to spend time there. Well done, Alexandra Hotel!

User

The room was fabulous, views across the Parade and to the pier supplied a constantly changing vista.

The staff were what made the stay Sarah on reception was excellent.

Would love to go back again, the best way to finish the West Highland Way.

User

The room was a 3 single bed with shower bath tv great room... the breakfast was to die for all the food was top notch... will be recomending to anyone going to fort william.. the staff were so welcoming...

User

Stayed two nights as part of a guided tour up Ben Nevis. The room was decent and clean (I had one on the fourth floor, which, I believe, has been recently refurbished) The staff were very helpful and nice. Breakfast was good. There were kettles and hot chocolate/tea/coffee and biscuits packets in the room, so you could make hot drinks for yourself.

The only issues I'd raise are :

- the buttons in the lift have no lighting indicators, so it's hard to know whether clicking them does anything or not

- being a really old building, if you do take the stairs instead, be prepared to get lost the first dozen times, as the place is like a labyrinth

- the faucets on the sink must have been chosen by either a 2 year old child or someone who's never washed their hands before. They're way too short and near the edge of the sink, making using the sink nearly impossible

All in all, I enjoyed my stay at the Alexandra Hotel and would choose to stay here again

User

Stayed one night . The room was decent and clean (I had one on the first floor, I arrived at 22:30 hrs on 24th janauary and a lovely lady on reception she was really warm welcomesorry i forget her name. Hotel owners must raise her wages for her performance on job. The breakfast staff were very helpful and nice. Breakfast was good.

I went over there for some bussiness purpose and my day went wrong but staff made my day

I enjoyed my stay at the Alexandra Hotel and i recomended this hotel as well

User

Staff were very friendly and helpful offered to take bags as room wasn’t ready and we booked last minute

Free WiFi breakfast included car park was busy but still found a space

Would come back very central

User

Staff very friendly and helpful, ate in the bistro and food was excellent , view from room was very good , room was very clean will definitely be back . 👌

User

Just returned from 3 night stay we had a beautiful superior room very spacious and modern it was spotless and believe me I'm very fussy about cleanliness. The food was excellent especially the breakfast, The staff were very helpful, polite and friendly. Okay the hotel itself is very old and a bit dated in parts but you could tell the updating and renovating is an ongoing situation. All in all we had a very pleasant stay thank you to all the staff at the Alexandra x

User

Food was outstanding it was hot and plenty of it didn’t wait long either.

User

Came here as a wee last minute get away for myself and my husband, we got a fantastic deal dinner, bed and breakfast, room was lovely great big bed, staff where soooo nice and helpful from the very minute I phoned to book it they couldn't do enough even giving us wee extras to make our stay even better, the food at the bistro was delicious! I was stuffed by the time I had finished my main course I didn't think I would fit my dessert in that's when the waitress said we could take our desserts to our room to enjoy later once we had space (so nice), the hotel is being renovated at the moment so yea the carpets along the corridor are worn and yes there maybe a few cracked tiles and it needs a lick of paint but it doesn't ruin it or take it away from an enjoyable night, they must be sorting the rooms first then working on the rest as our room was immaculate with a big tv and fresh bathroom, it's beyond a bargain for what you get and we will defo be back, can't recommend enough

User

We have just returned from staying in the hotel. We left early as the weather wasn't great. However we have no complaints about the hotel. It's in a perfect location close to the train station. It does require refurbishment but I think that adds to it's charm. Found the staff on reception very pleasant and welcoming and they offered information on places to visit. Would return again.

User

Had a great stay here last night. The room was very clean and the bed was comfy. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast. They just need to get the lift sorted as we were on the 3rd floor and I’m not good with stairs but everything else was great. Also enjoyed a meal in the Bistro which was good value.

User

Great food. a fantastic entertainment in the evening especially the in house singer she was amazing. Friendly staff nice clean tidy rooms. Only down size was the view we had wasnt good. But ild recommend it to anyone and ild definitely come again next time am up in the highlands

User

Good location. Bit tired, worn carpets, lift holds 2 at a time. Side stairs brings you into a room that is being used for meetings. Breakfast good but watch out, leave your table and acwaitress has taken away eg my unfinished glass of orange juice.

User

The hotel, the room and breakfast was great. The morning staff....great. The evening staff however, well one waitress was chewing gum whilst serving... big no no. Receptionist made you feel rushed so she could swiftly move onto the next. Bar staff were more interested in the local clientele. And lastly, the evening meal was of a poor standard.

User

Where do I start.... very very dated. As you pull up to the hotel it tells a story... OLD! As you go into the hotel tiles are chipped and broken, reception furniture is old are you all getting the picture?!!! We had updated our room to superior before we arrived and was told it would be £25 total when we arrived we were told we needed to pay £50 as we where staying two nights. They knew we had booked two nights at the time of booking and in the email it only said £25. Trust me there was nothing superior about the room, and getting to it along corridors with thread bare carpets did not add to it's charm! The place is musty and dirty. We booked to have a bottle of bubbly in the room, never happened what we got was a voucher to go into the bar and get a glass of bubbly each. Dinner in the Bistro was very nice although again needs to be updated. Breakfast was plenty but again so tatty. Would we book again? Not in my lifetime!

User

Very poor and certainly do not recommend it!! Staff were less than helpful and attitude stinks. Roast potatoes were beyond roasted and only good for filling potholes! The lamb, still with pieces of string, was fatty and gave me jaw ache. Egg noodles and vegetables? Pepper, onion and noodle not very appetising and certainly not worth the price.

User

Staff were unfriendly and didn't even greet us, just asked "for two?"

Food was very basic, had an overcooked burger, meat was dry and salad was lifeless.

Don't come here, go to McDonald's across the road, it might be an improvement.
