Tired of sandwiches? How about making simple pasta and sauce in advance on a sunday and having it in the fridge ready to dip into whenever needed. We make a pesto or a red pasta each week. It's a quick lunch to heat up for the kids, or a good base to make a cold pasta salad. Just scoop from the box and only heat what is needed. Easy, cheap, homemade Garlic bread to go with this out on Thursday.

As promised some sandwich / bagel fillings that freeze well, the secret is to butter the bread both sides if you want to prevent a wet filing from making the bread soggy. The Batch Lady

A really quick Video on freezing filled bagels, its really just the same as the sandwiches but so many people have asked for this that I made a quick video. Make sure you clingfilm each bagel tightly before placing in a freezer bag or they will dry out fast. I defrost these first then put in a toaster bag to just crisps the bagel up. (or you can 1/2 defrost 30 sec in micro, then in Toaster Bag). Look out for my breakfast filled bagels which are soooo tasty! coming soon

The Batch Lady Family are heading to Sulfolk with a crowd of other people. Feeding 12-14 people for the week can be expensive and not much fun for the cook. Here's a quick video of how I package up ready batched meals so no cooking is required, just heat up and go! @thebatchLady

It's Holiday time! I'm heading South with the children and a large group of friends. Watch out for tomorrows video on how to make food in advance and travel with frozen food, if your holidaying in the UK. Save money, time and relax in the knowledge that all the meals are already done. Video out 2pm tommorow The Batch Lady

Ok batchers You may need to check the list to make sure you don’t have any of these in your freezer. Press on the article for full info. The Batch Lady

Ready made smoothies can be so expensive to buy and I'm never sure how much sugar has been added so we tend to make our own. Buying bags of frozen fruit is a great way to keep the costs down, as you only use exactly whats needed then put the rest back in the freezer. We buy a cheap bag from Tesco called wobbily bits mixed fruit its not pretty but who cares when its being blended up. We bought my son JP this blender for his birthday it cost £20 and we have certianly had our money back on it. The Batch Lady

I love getting messages and photos here’s one from Aimee Edwards, batching up snacks working a treat for her. So proud Aimee 👍. Send in your photos and let us all see what you’ve been batching up this summer? Anyone tried the quiche yet?

User

Here's a great summer recipe, that's so versitile. Thus one is a simple cheese, ham and tomato quiche that I was making for the family, but you can add lots of different ingredients to these. Look out for my breakfast quiche coming soon and a lovely one for a nice summer lunch of asparagus and goats cheese. I always have altleast one of these in the freezer as it can be used as a lunch a dinner or a weekend husband grab and microwave snack. The Batch Lady

No batch lady apron on today, off to see the Queen!

Since I filmed the freezable sandwiches, I have been asked so many questions about other freezable things like wraps, bagels etc. So here's a quick video that I filmed with mummy jojo JoJo Fraser before she headed off on her holidays. Just like sandwiches you want to not add any very wet fillings. I also tend to always seal these so they are toasted as it stops them going soggy and stops the wrap drying out and cracking. Hi Guys, as promised some ideas for saving money with ready made packed Lunches for the summer. If you saw my video yesterday you would have seen me describing my snack boxes, from the healthy box to the treat box. I tend to buy large bags that are on offer at the end of the supermarket isle, then get the kids to divide them up into snack bags. each bag ends up costing around 20 pence so its a real cost saver. My guys are allowed 2 healthy ( raisins, nuts, seeds etc and one treat bag per lunch. Let us know any of your fab snack suggestions! Some good recipes for made in advance home baking for snacks coming soon @thebatchlady

During the summer we have lots of days out. I don't want to be the one organising lunches, so I batch everything in advance. You can do this for work lunches too as it saves you lots of time and decision making and allows you to grab and go. Batch up small reuseable bags of healthy treats, crisps and treats, put them in different boxes so that kids know they are only allowed 1 out of each box, that way they always get a balance between healthy and sugary treats. Using freezable made in advance sandwiches, wraps and bagels then allows packed lunces to be packed in less than 1 minute. Top tips and photos on the snacks I batch into small bags out in next post. Are you up for giving it a try? The Batch Lady

This video was shot on my phone for instagram so not the usual Batch Lady quality. But a great video to watch to show that if you put a lunch snack system in place and tell your kids the rules they can pack thier own packed lunch in less than 1 Minute!!!!! Tommorow I will show you how I save money, time and waste by batching all my own snack bags in advance, so healthy snacks, sandwiches/wraps and sweet treats are all ready to grab and go without any input from me. I will also post photos of ideas for good packed lunch snacks for summer. Enjoy @thebatchlady

Easy Summer Lunches - Lets kick off with some frozen sandwiches! Did you know you can easily freeze sandwiches? You may think why bother when they take so little time to make, but believe me they save waste as you can use all the ingredients at one, saving 1/2 the bread or 1/2 the packet of ham from festering in the fridge. I also get the kids to make them in batches, try buying some toaster bags, your kids can choose there own sanwich put in it the toaster and hay presto th...ey've made there own toasties without any mum input. Going out for the day? throw a frozen sandwich in your packed lunch bag and it will be defrosted by lunch time and would have stayed cool rather than sweating in the heat. watch tomorrow as I show you how my kids pack a packed lunch in 1 minute!!! using my frozen sandwich snack system. A list of freezer friendly sandwich fillings coming out tommorow. The Batch Lady

Confession: I went into the seminar with a healthy dose of scepticism... I mean, I'd seen a few of The Batch Lady's videos and I can operate a freezer, right? What more was I going to learn there? Well! I was absolutely blown away by Suzanne's presence, her infectious enthusiasm and spectacular organisational skills. In the space of two short hours, without a hob on which to cook, she produced enough food to feed an army. And an army of people who all have different dietary preferences. Not just that, but the presentation provided a huge amount of tips and best practice relative to food hygiene, the freezing and defrosting process, brand names to look for as well as time and cost savings. I am a true convert. I can only aspire to achieve her level of professionalism in the kitchen but I've set myself that goal. Now, someone come over and eat all this ice cream, because I need some space. (the vodka stays)
