ŌÜĪ’ĖÅŌÜĪ’ĖÅOnly ┬Ż25 tomorrow ŌÜĪ’ĖÅŌÜĪ’ĖÅ DERMAPLANING is a form of exfoliation. The goal of exfoliation has always been to remove dead skin cells and encourage cell turnover. Skin cells turn over every three to four weeks in young skin. With age, this process moves at a slower rate, making monthly exfoliation more important. Exfoliation ŌĆ£tricksŌĆØ the skin into turning over at a faster rate than it normally would.
To trick the skin, a controlled injury (exfoliation) is created. When the skin... is injured, new skin cells are sent to replace the old ones, and collagen and elastin are produced. Loss of collagen and elastin is the biggest contributor to wrinkles. While collagen can be put back into the skin, elastin is too big of a molecule.
What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a lot like microder┬Łmabrasion, another popular mechanical exfoliation technique. Both mechanically exfoliate the skin, but dermaplaning also removes the vellus hair from the skin. In this method of exfoliation, a sterile, surgical scalpel is used to complete the process. It is definitely not as scary as it sounds. However, this method of exfoliation should be done by a trained professional and definitely not at home. While the scalpel used is in a way ŌĆ£shaving your face,ŌĆØ you can think of it as shaving your skin. The technician will use small strokes around the entire face to remove any impurities, clogged pores and facial hair.
Benefits of Dermaplaning
Cell regeneration. Dermaplaning will trigger the cell regeneration process to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Hyperpig┬Łmentation. Dermaplaning will exfoliate the top layer of your skin, taking off dead skin cells. Therefore, it can help lighten pigmented spots.
Immediate results. Other exfoliation processes sometimes take more time to show the results, but dermaplaning shows immediate results.
Safety. Dermaplaning is safe for everyone and there is no downtime involved.
Smooths rough skin. Dermaplaning is especially beneficial for people with rough, dry skin. The scalpel is effective in smoothing out skin and evening skin tone.
Hair removal. Peach fuzz or vellus hair? It easily removes this hair without any problems.
Product penetration. Dermaplaning is good for letting products such as peels, strong serums or skin remedies penetrate deeply into the skin, as results are improved after exfoliation.
Mildness. Dermaplaning is a gentle form of exfoliation, and it can be more gentle than a peel or microder┬Łmabrasion for sensitive clients. It is also great for new clients who want to start with gentle anti-aging treatments before jumping into more.
Frequency. Dermaplaning is safe to do every four to six weeks, which is the target range you would want to get those cells turning over faster.
Makeup. Clients will notice that their makeup will go on better after a dermaplaning service.

Confused about how to clean your face & with what?! Cleanse, tone, exfoliate?! ItŌĆÖs all confusing if you donŌĆÖt know how and when to use these products in the right order.
First things first: PUT DOWN THE FACEWIPES! ­¤ś▒
Be it a ŌĆ£make up removal wipeŌĆØ or a baby wipe, these things are awful for your skin. Ok ok IŌĆÖm guilty of using the odd face wipe when IŌĆÖm tired or camping or lazy! But not every day. The make up/grease/dirt/food/pollution thatŌĆÖs on your face will just get smeare...d around and although it removes some of it, I bet if you cleansed it after you see more dirt and make up removed and even more after youŌĆÖve exfoliated!
Cleanser Before Scrub! By cleansing first you help remove dirt, sweat and make up off skinŌĆÖs surface. You are then working with a clean base to then exfoliate away dead skin cells (the epidermis-top layer of skin) that can pile up on skinŌĆÖs surface. Exfoliating can soften your skin and allows a fresh layer of skin cells to emerge as dead skin cells are washed away.
Try exfoliating with a face scrub with little bits in. The creamier ones are best rather than the gel based ones. (Mainly because of the ingredients but also because a lot of gel based scrubs still use tint balls of plastic that end up in our rivers and oceans!) Pick one that doubles as a mask or a face scrub! (Use the mask on oily skin and acne break out areas when needed)
Choose the right moisturiser for your age and skin type. Our skin changes so much throughout our days weeks months and years. Us ladies have hormones to contend with! Along with puberty, childbirth, periods, being perimenopausal and menopausal, our skin needs as much help as it can get!
Oil based moisturisers are great for people with fine lines and wrinkles, but not so great for those with dry skin. Not what youŌĆÖd have thought huh? Oil based moisturisers should only be used if you know you really need it. Like on skin thatŌĆÖs had abit too much sun and itŌĆÖs about to crack and peel?!
Most skin types work well with normal oil free moisturisers. ItŌĆÖs not about how much you spend or the brand you buy, itŌĆÖs the ingredients that count. The more natural the better and obviously one thatŌĆÖs not tested on animals!
