The Bike Shed Bute Cyclocross Description

The RACE

The format will be that of an OPEN race, as in open to men and women, 16 years and over - the relevant age is on 16th of September.
Riders will commence to shred at 5. 30pm. The race runs for 50 mins plus one lap of a course stacked with your favourite cyclocross features. Terrain, terroir, portage, obstacle, YOLO, we have all those French idioms.
Riders will be able to sign-on on the morning of the race as part of general signing on for the other events of the weekend (timing and venue to be announced) or at 3. 30pm at the course. Signing on will close at 5. 00pm giving you around 20 minutes to get some practise laps in.
100 entries for the coolest cats are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

The ENTRY

Entry is £17 per rider. Entires will be through https://www. entrycentral.com and will go live no later than the 30th April 2016.
In addition to the entry fee, TLI membership will be required. If you're a member of TLI (this is NOT the same as a British Cycling membership), great, you get in for free, if not you will require a day membership. These will be available at sign on and will cost an additional £5. Under 18s will receive a free day membership. It makes a lot of sense to join TLI for £10. Even if you only do 2 events you save yourself the hassle of having to sign on for day membership each time. . . . Join TLI at http://www. tlicycling.org. uk /JoinRenew. aspx?cookieCheck=true
If you have already signed up for the TLI day membership as a result of entry in one of the other events forming part of the Rothesay Weekend held earlier on in the day then proof of this is all that will be required.
The closing date for advance entries will be the 10th of September. Any available entries on the day will be charged at £15 per rider plus the additional TLI day membership (£5) for non-TLI members. We cannot guarantee places will be available should you come to Bute without an advanced entry so we would encourage you to buy in advance.

The DIRECTIONS

The race is at King George's Field, Rothesay, ISLE OF BUTE. Come off the boat and head south straight onto High St and continue south for around 0. 5km. We'll have some big makeshift sign to let you know you've arrived at Cross Paridiso. Sign-on will be pretty much inside the gate to King George's Field.

The Bike Shed Bute CX update: Family Team entries are looking good with 4 teams registered already in fact entries from U14 riders are looking very strong. Younger riders, and older ones for that matter, might be interested in Hill Climb that forms part of the Rothesay Weekend of Cycling on Saturday morning. Entries can be found at: https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race -details/17840... and: https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race -details/17831

The Bike Shed Bute CX update: Entries are flying in for Round 1 of the SCX series and we are particularly impressed by how many entries we are receiving from the same family. In recognition of the commitment this must involve we intend to have a generational/family prize. Teams can be a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 with at least 2 generations in a team. The definition of 'family' is up to you. If you consider yourselves 'a family' then we will most likely accept that. If y...ou are unsure then ask for confirmation when you enter. Results will be based on the best performance of 2 riders from the team with performance being weighted according to the number of riders in the individual age related races. PM or email (stuartjohngreen@icloud.com) with your proposed team and I will publish a list of runners and riders before the races. If you like the idea then spread the word...

This year is Round 1 of the Scottish CX Series and there will be at least 4 races on the full course rather than just the 1 in the past. The question is whether we continue with the town centre start(s). This is popular with locals and raises the profile of CX on the island. What I have not had is feedback from riders and I would welcome your comments, here, or by PM and a response to the poll below: As a potential entrant, do you favour a town centre start for 1 or all of the full races?
