About The Birks Cinema Aberfeldy
State of the art cinema offering everything from film to food, events to entertainment, with a warm and friendly welcome. A true community venue.
The Birks Cinema Aberfeldy Description
In April 2013, The Birks Cinema re-opened its doors to the public as a wee friendly state-of-the art cinema, after a 20 year interlude. This followed a determined fundraising campaign by The Friends of The Birks Cinema which brought in generous support and donations from the Big Lottery Fund, the Scottish Rural Development Program, Creative Scotland, and many other donors, including a huge number of Highland Perthshire residents. Together, they raised the ÂĢ2. 2 million necessary to purchase The Birks Cinema building and bring it back to life as a community hub, while retaining its iconic Art-Noveau exterior.
Since then, The Birks Cinema Trust (the new name for the Friends of The Birks Cinema charity) has worked hard at developing a friendly local community hub, both commercially and socially.
This amazing project is still ongoing, so please keep an eye on our website - http://birkscinema. co. uk / - facebook and instagram feeds for details of our film, music and live events programme as well as all the community activities hosted in our hub.
So please, come along and experience the magic of the movies as they are supposed to be seen - in our cosy auditorium, enjoying our huge screen and superb sound system from the comfort of our roomy seats. . . . . .

Coming to The Birks starting Friday 9th Nov, the first week of the new cinema programme is Bad Times at the El Royale. The El Royale is run-down hotel that sits on the border between California and Nevada. It soon becomes a seedy battleground when seven strangers -- a cleric, a soul singer, a traveling salesman, two sisters, the manager and the mysterious Billy Lee -- converge on a fateful night for one last shot at redemption before everything goes wrong. https://youtu.be/y7wzBVARwaU

Are you remembering Funny Girl-The Musical tomorrow night? Funny Girl is a 1963 musical with a book by Isobel Lennart, music by Jule Styne, and lyrics by Bob Merrill. The semi-biographical plot is based on the life and career of Broadway star, film actress and comedian Fanny Brice featuring her stormy relationship with entrepreneur and gambler Nick Arnstein. Praised by critics as having 'irresistible charm, wit and warmth', and hailing Sheridan Smith as 'the greatest star by far', Funny Girl features a host of iconic and timeless musical numbers including 'People,' 'I'm the Greatest Star,' and 'Don't Rain On My Parade. 'Hilarious, glorious, and 'exhilarating', don't miss this sensational production from the comfort of your local cinema seat.

What a fantastic cinema. I took my nephews and son to see Rogue One last night. There is a batista to make coffee, drinks, sweeties and the best popcorn. Lovely staff and a great venue.
We went along to the music session on Thursday night, really enjoyed listening to the many talents of this group of people. Highly recommend this for a way of spending a few hours on a Thursday night and will definitely be back the next time were in Aberfeldy. Well done !
We have been coming to Aberfeldy for years and for years that corner of the town was an eyesore. Now no more, its so pleasant, bright and a cheerful cozy cinema. Last night we went to see The Walk and came out saddened that we were the only ones there. Come on everyone USE IT OR LOOSE IT!! The staff are wonderful, pleasant and great coffee & cakes you can take in! Thanks everyone!
Took a trip up to Aberfeldy yesterday and visited The Birks Cinema for the first time.
The whole family went to see "Petes Dragon" and thoroughly enjoyed our cinema experience from start to finish.
A fantastic local cinema with the most comfortable seating that I've ever experienced in over 50 years of attending cinemas all over the World.
The auditorium gave us unrivalled viewing and sound and was a pleasure.
Staff were very attentive and helpful and we will be back.ïŋ―
5 stars, thank you.
This is a fantastic venue and even more special because itâs community owned and run! We had a great visit. Loved our double seat. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit!
So lucky to have such a great wee cinema in the Feldy :)
Really lovely cinema, showing the latest releases. It's the nicest cinema I've been to and it's also cheaper than the big chains, which surprises me given it's in a small town.
Also love the fact you can choose a drink from the bar and take it in with you - tea, wine, beer etc.
Very civilised!
Proper good, quality cinema. Comfy seats and one big screen. None of your multiplex postage stamp-size nonsense!
Lovely local run cinema. Warm, friendly atmosphere, staff all look happy to work there. Anyone visiting Aberfeldy or the surrounding area should pop in, if not for a film, a cuppa and cake ïŋ― x
Lovely little community cinema with a cafe. Watched The Darkest Hour with some friends - great film made better for watching it in at The Birks. Would love to visit again when next in the area.
Itâs soooo nice to sit in a cinema thatâs CLEAN!! Lovely, friendly, professional service. Weâre so lucky to have The Birks, would much rather watch movies here than in Perth.
If you are in Aberfeldy, Perthshire, make sure you pop in here. It's a delightful cinema and bar, owned and run by the local community I believe.
On Thursday evening you can listen to talented local musicians, with guitars, tin whistle, accordions, banjo, fiddle, etc, playing traditional Scottish tunes and songs in the room upstairs. I highly recommend it, we had a great evening.
Had a great day with Callum today at your Lego event! Callum loved seeing The Lego Movie on the big screen! Topped our day off with Lego Drop in this afternoon! This was great, many vehicles were made by Callum and the staff at the Lego drop in were lovely. Thank You Birks Cinema, very lucky to have such an amazing place on our doorstep!
Great wee cinema and very comfortable seats with plenty of leg room
Fantastic local cinema. I love this place and not just because I got married there . Cozy and friendly and seats that you just sink into .
Highly recommend
Delightfully intimate cinema with friendly staff. Bought a drink there and took it in with us. Sat in a double seat which was very comfy. Happened to watch a cracking movie The Greatest Showman! Parking in side street.
Couldnât believe the quality of the cinema for a small Comunity cinema, very limited choice of movies due to it being a single screen but nice friendly atmosphere
Best cinema experience ever! Perfectly compact and bijou. Lovely cafe and it serves wine - what more could you ask for? ð
Best cinema ever!!!
