We have been eating at Cobles (aka 'The Cobles') for so many years, but less so in the last eight years. It was good to return and be given a warm welcome. The food, as always, was excellent. My wife enjoyed both her starter of Haggis and Black Pudding bon-bons and her main course mussels were as good as those found in more Mediterranean climes. My main course of Red Chicken Curry was good and fiery. Sensible wine prices. Recommended.

User

We had a delicious meal when we dropped into Kelso yesterday. Cajun chicken in ciabatta the the most scrumptious home made chips and coleslaw. Roaring, open fire and welcoming staff. Perfect!

User

We ate here last night after spending the night in kelso. What can I say reasonably price and food absolutely beautiful. Haddock and chips was the best I have ever had and was plenty of it. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to try here. Next time we visit we r definitely returning to this place.

User

Very pleasant little gem of a pub. Had lunch on the spur of the moment.

The days menu featured local seasonal produce (grouse/venison) as well as more familiar fare. All dishes were very well presented, a great deal of thought and care having been given.

The cooking style was an eclectic mix of traditional familiar world cuisines using a local twist and local produce together with more familiar Scottish fare. The new seasons grouse broth in a Japanese style was excellent. The grouse cooked to perfection!

All dishes were a good size, neither stingy or overly generous.

The sweets were likewise excellent and not an afterthought.

Coffee also excellent.

Local brews available at the bar.

Service was just right. Attentive but relaxed and unobtrusive.

At the prices charged this is well deserving of a visit. Starters £4-7, mains £12-16, sweets £ 6-8 plus a cheese selection.

I'll be back!

Thank you for a wonderful dinner this evening. We managed to make it through three delicious courses and the service was excellent too. The girls were working really hard and were cheerful all the way time we were there. My husband's rib eye was a particular highlight with a very generous helping of onion rings. We've been for lunch before but will definitely be back for supper again. Oh and great homemade bread! My side salad was really lovely - it's nice to see such care and attention paid to the little things.

User

Thanks so much also for humouring my little boy when he asked for 'owl ice-cream' (you'll know what I'm talking about if you've read the Gruffalo!!) He thought it was ace and it even tasted like chocolate! Lol.

Had a great meal once again at The Cobbles last night. My wife and I said that it is probably one of the most consistently good Pub /Eating houses we have ever used! The ale is first class and the staff are always very professional and friendly. I would also add that there is no shock when you get the bill. Well done The Cobbles keep up the excellent service you offer!

Had a delicious lunch in this lovely wee place in Kelso while on our holiday in the Borders. Extensive menu of delicious sounding options from which my husband and I struggled to choose. Lots of fish and veggie options with a mixture of contemporary and more traditional dishes - something for everyone. Excellent, friendly service and all washed down with two very tasty beers from the award winning Tempest Brewery in Galashiels. Our dog was also welcomed into the bar area where we ate and water was provided for her. Can't recommend highly enough.
