The Cross, Aa 3 Red Rosettes

Me and my wife recently enjoyed a delicious dinner in The Cross. The restaurant is set in a lovely location, offering a nice garden view and a homely feeling. The food and service was wonderful, starting with delicious amuses and ending with a heavenly dessert. We enjoyed the three course meal, finding the lamb to be well prepared and the beef really as the headliner of the evening. Service was prompt and smooth and the table setting in the restaurant is really great; it provides the change for quiet and intimate conversation with your partner.

We had dinner there last night and we spent a lovely time. The dishes were both exquisite and generous. We had several appetizers, the wines recommended perfectly matched our dishes. The customer service was perfect.

This is an excellent, small hotel and restaurant. The building is unassuming on the outside, but beautifully decorated on the inside, with a lovely restaurant and lounge on the ground floor and a residents' lounge and bedrooms above.

Food is of the highest standard, and those with special dietary requirements are catered for with ease - in my case the chef had produced a special gluten- and dairy-free menu - so I didn't feel I missed out on any of the experience. The service was excellent and had that personal touch of a top-notch small hotel.

The rooms are a good size and well-equipped, as are the bathrooms. Those overlooking the river are particularly recommended, and the sound of the water makes for a good night's rest.

Excellent food in a cosy setting with great staff. Worth a trip to visit!
