We had an itison voucher for afternoon tea with gin cocktails. It was excellent from the lovely fresh food to the friendly staff. Will definitely be back.

User

So lucky to have been taken here for my retirement party. Delicious meal and great choice of menu . Could happily have chosen anything and thoroughly enjoyed. Everything piping hot and excellent coffee too .Thank you for a lovely evening and for looking after us so well.

User

Lovely place💐 , great 🍔 food , friendly Staff , parking 🚗 around the back - what else do you need 10/10 ⭐️would definately go back ❤️

User

I dined on Sunday with my 2 children aged 1 and 2 and a half. They don't have a kids menu as such but were very obliging at taking requests both for food and drinks for the kids and charged a reasonable price. I felt compelled to come back and give a positive review on Facebook after dining at another restaurant in the Perth Road area that only had a £6.95 3 course option for kids. I understand that this menu would suit children up to age 13-14 but found it non compromising for infants who also need to eat! Could highly recommend D'arcy's for a nice lunch and flexible option for families

User

Had an amazing afternoon tea here last week using an Itison voucher I had purchased. The food was excellent. Totally fresh and made with love. However what blew me away was the exceptional staff. They could not have been more accommodating. My toddler came along that afternoon to meet up with his godfather. I was a little nervous as he can be...well a toddler. However the staff provided him with a juice and after enjoying some strawberries off of the cake stand he was provided with his own little fruit bowl and dipping chocolate. Honestly the service was first class. Will definitely be back and have already recommend to several friends and family members. Thank you for an outstanding afternoon tea :)

User

Had a lovely tea and cakes here.. Highly recommended.. Great staff. Friendly and discreet.. Just how I like it..definitely will be back for more..

Enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea, food and service both excellent.

Amazing place, great quality of food and fantastic service. Best place I’ve eaten in a long time. Great job to all staff

User

Went for dinner last week Steak and wedges thinnest steak ever and solved the problem of previous reviews complaints re the veg there weren’t any nothing no tomato no mushroom no onions just steak and wedges- can get far better elsewhere for the same or less - what we had was tasty but won’t be back

User

D'Arcy Thompson has long been one of our favourites and our top recommendation for eating out in Dundee. We had always felt that the restaurant served exceptional and creative dishes which differentiated it from any other gastro type pub in Dundee, particularly with such reasonable pricing. We went for an early dinner today and I have to say that we are hugely disappointed. Whilst there was nothing particularly wrong with the service or the food we ordered, the menu was reflective of standard pub grub fare and the service was lacking in attention to detail (no mention of the special Sunday roast which is omitted from the menu, providing standard knives with ribs and no finger bowl/extra napkin-the staff were however apologetic) The overall experience was a poor facsimile of its former self. We understand from staff that the restaurant has decided to target more of the bar/pub end of the market with less emphasis on the dining experience. We only hope that through providing some constructive feedback that the restaurant will regain that special dining experience which we had always enjoyed and looked forward to previously.

Went with the wife and kids for Mother's Day as that's where wife wanted to go because she said it was brilliant. Not impressed at all neither was the kids We had soup for starters which was very good kids ordered burger and the other ordered chicken goujons the chicken was burnt and the burger didn't taste like a burger now we are not fussy eaters but that was very poor. And I have roast beef which I couldn't eat as I couldn't even cut it or chew it. Yorkies was good and veg was ok. But the gravy aswell was horrible didn't taste like any type of gravy I've ever had in my life kids didn't even want pudding because they didn't no if it was going to be edible Wife's beef was good I tried that and was really good melt on your mouth just a pity it was smothered in that crap gravy . Honest opinion. Sorry

Went for prosecco afternoon tea … was given it as a gift, I have to say I was a little bit disappointed in the whole affair!!

Sandwiches were sad and not very exciting, scones looked and tasted very much like Tesco value ones cakes were not too fresh or imaginative!

I have sampled many other afternoon teas I would rate this as the poorest yet!

The service was haphazard but I was certainty kept amused by the antics of one of the girls there, she was more in and out the door with a packet of cigarettes, when possibly cleaning the tables that were left dirty would have been a better option???

The cocktail was asked for twice before it eventually arrived, and even then it did not taste good!!! Was given another one tho…………

All in all, these promotion deals are to entice customers to go and sample the fare and hopefully to enjoy so much that they go back… sadly this will not be the case in this instance………not when there are so many better places to visit locally

I have to say I’ve seen similar comments that mirror my thoughts about the Darcy Thomson!!! Now is the time to pull your socks up ……… some in house time management training needed here I think???

User

So disappointed! Booked lunch with friends to celebrate my upcoming birthday. Thankfully I chose the vegetarian dish. My 2 friends plumped for the roast beef and the gammon. Plates took over 30 minutes to arrive and when they did I was very glad to be eating Gnocchi. My friends plates looked disgusting....can only be described as burnt/charcoaled vegetables, undercooked gammon, black yorkshire puddings which were cold and uncooked in the centre. The waiting staff tried their best to make things right, replaced my friends food (but not the extra burnt veg) and paid our drinks bill (2 glasses of Rosè wine, and 3 soft drinks). Have dined at D'arcy's a few times before and never had such terrible food. Will not be back. Such a shame.

User

Shepherds pie 12 quid for a plate of tatties..won't be back thi fishcakes ...12 quid for 3 wee skinny fishcakes...chips were an extra...I would advise anyone going to get the fish n chips probably the best thing on but still 12 quid

I have contemplated sharing my views about my graduation dinner in the D'arcy Thompson for a while. I am in hospitality myself and know that things can go wrong, therefore I was reluctant to complain. However, I was so disappointed and saddened at the meal, even though I had booked well in advance and raved about the place to my family and friends who joined me on the day and were also far from satisfied. Firstly, our table wasn't ready but your friendly staff, who made our experience slightly better, offered us complimentary drinks in Tinsmiths next door. We waited roughly 40 minutes for our starters, and then one hour between our starter and main course. I know there can be a wait normally on busy service, but this was a pre ordered meal, therefore I cannot understand how that can be justified. When the main courses did arrive, they arrived cold.

Your staff were so apologetic and friendly, I could see that they were embarrassed and strived to try keep us happy, which on a day like graduation- it's hard to be sad! I just hope that for next years graduation day, this feedback can act as advice.

User

Feel bad giving 2 stars, as this has been one of my favourite places to eat since it opened but we went for a prosecco afternoon tea yesterday and was very disappointed. The table was booked 3 weeks ago but on arrival they had no note of the booking. Thankfully it wasn't busy so they gave us a table. We were given 3 finger sandwiches each, one of which only had lettuce on it, staff forgot to bring the pot of tea so we had afternoon tea without the tea, and the cakes were standard- a scone & couple of sponge cakes which were ok but some variety would have been nice and the cakes didn't taste very fresh. Have always loved the food here in the past but standards seem to have slipped based on our experience and some of the other recent reviews. So many great places to eat in Dundee these days, hope they up their game again.
