The Douglas Hotel

Really solid choice when you're overnighting on the Isle of Arran. We loved how close they are to the ferry and how delicious the food was. Perhaps the only thing we would have loved to see more of, was parking! It got a bit crowded and we had to park, with the hotel's permission, in the handicap spot.

Very good food. We ate in the bar in the big bay window with a great view. Good vegetarian choices too, even if as usual the menu was predominantly meaty.

Great food and drinks. Lovely service. Ideal for families, and great that the bar area is dog friendly.

Good location. Friendly staff. Nicely presented rooms with comfortable king bed, complimentary tea and local shortbread. Surprisingly no fridge in the room. Inclusive breakfast had a nice selection of Scottish warm grub and self serve continental cold items. Room service/bistro food bit pricey but tasty nonetheless.

Fantastic comfortable bed, and very clean. Restaurant wasn't cheap but perfectly cooked rib eye steak and comprehensive selection of fine wines. Very friendly staff and excellent service.

We dropped in to have some dinner in Brodick as all else seemed closed. The service was professional and friendly. Our good arrived with 20 minutes and it was fresh and hot.
My only grievance with the place has nothing to do with the place itself. Some of the patrons were unruly as I believe there was some sporting even happening on the television on the other side of the bar and some of the other patrons around us who came in for some peaceful dining found it a bit frustrating.
Not going it 5 stars since I believe my food was a bit overpriced. Granted it was for the experience I was paying, but the rowdy crowd in the adjacent room tips the balance.
