The Edinburgh Sheriff Court

Obviously a place like this is going to attract loads of angry reviews, and probably for both good and ridiculous reasons. Politics and societal woes completely set aside, I've made a few visits for traffic violations over the years (as well as recently) and when I go to pay my fines, I have to say the staff are all jovial and easy to get on with. They're civil servants, who you can probably imagine the amount of anger they have to deal with on a daily basis. It'll probably go a long way for us all as a city if one can admit guilt and bring the penalty money in and treat them as human beings in the process. Every time I've been in I've been met with a smile and treated with dignity (despite them not immediately knowing why I was in) - let's give them the same respect.

The cafe inside does fish, chips and mushy peas for a mere £4.60 on a Friday. If you end up fined or imprisoned, hopefully this weekend delight is a redeeming factor.

Our justice system is a total joke. Protect women from domestic violence..no you let them down! Assaulted the mother of his 2yr old when she was holding her..he went on the run for almost a week ! Meanwhile.sent threatening texts all of which were given to the police..they have been brilliant...he jumped bail followed them to Portugal where I took them to keep them safe ..arrested when he decided to try and come back to Edinburgh..put on remand..found GUILTY..sentenced was then deferred for report so for a month!! Court yesterday....jail term you would think..no let's waste money on a 2yr domestic violence programme instead ..total idiots !!!

Is this the most corrupt court in Scotland or even the UK?

Crawling with junkies and Jeremy Kyle types outside. God only knows what it's like inside!!!

I phoned with an enquiry as my passport had been sent as proof of ID. Because there is a backlog the lady I spoke to said she would get my documents returned as they had been seen, so it would not jeopardise my holiday plans in October!! Efficient and friendly!!

Would not recommend this as a venue for an enjoyable day out.

The seats are rather hard and the layout isnt conducive to socialising with friends. Food and drink selection is limited and its very hard to get any kind of table service. Waiting staff seem non existent. Has no WiFi, and a TV with 1 channel.

On the plus side it seems a lot of policemen hang out here so it feels very safe, but needs a larger selection of activities for its visitors.
