The Great Tapestry Of Clackmannanshire Description

29th May – 18th August 2017 Speirs Centre, Alloa

Potentially the longest tapestry in the world (beating the Kieskamma tapestry in the South African parliament by a cool 23 metres), the artwork has been worked on by people from all across the country since 2012. It tells the story of Scotland's history from the formation of the land in the prehistoric era to the re-convention of the Scottish Parliament in 1998, in 160 panels and 143 metres of stitching.

It's not all just Kings and Queens. . The Great Tapestry of Scotland tells the horrible side of history too, including witches, plagues and massacres. An exciting way for both adults and kids to learn about both the glorious and grizzly sides of Scotland's past!

The Great Tapestry of Scotland is an engaging and beautiful timeline inviting you to step in to an illustrated world of Scottish history - a great way to learn about Scotland!

There's something for everyone so be prepared to spend the day taking a trip through our past.
