The Gulistan House

I usually order from Gul Anar Jaha in monifieth but decided I would try the gulistan. Last time i ordered they forgot to bring me part of my order which they appologised for and sent me the rest of my order and some free pakora to compensate. So I thought ok it was a simple mistake. I ordered again last night and after nearly a 2 hour wait my order arrived. Once I took it out the bag I realised they had sent me the completely wrong order. I phoned them straight away and was told they would have my order to me in under half an hour. My order eventually turned up at 9.15pm (1hour 15 mins later) so a total of 3 hours waiting time for my food. And when the driver arrived he asked me for the other food back!! Are they going to take this and serve it to someone else ? I could have done anything to the food and find it disgusting they would want the food which had been in my house for an hour and 15 mins back ! I haven't got any confidence in the gulistan now which is a shame because I like the food but do not trust the people running it to deliver my food on time, with the right order or even with fresh food now that I no they would take old food from people's houses back !! Very poor effort and will not be returning.

We went there first time as per someone's recommendation. The food was very much pricey i.e. A plain naan which costs 80p in good Asian restaurant in London and £1 in Glasgow, they charged us £3.50. The service was really bad, we asked the waiter more about the dish which we wanted to order, he did not give us a proper information and served us disgusting food which no one liked even my two little ones! They served us food and forgot to give us plates and waited for sometime for plates to come! The salad was quite cheap in quality, the drinks were overcharged as well. The portion were small as well.It was totally bad experience. I and my whole family left the restaurant hungry and went to another Indian place to eat the food. The restaurant is not great at all! I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone!!!

Generous portions, amazing curries, and for a really reasonable price. the service makes it.

we were in the upstairs bit of this place which was leased out to someone else, they were selling cans of lager instead of draft lager, but the price of a can of lager was far too expensive, the service was terrible and the attitude from the bar staff was not very nice

Reading the rave reviews made me think we had visited the restaurant on a not so good day.And certainly the last time we visited maybe a couple of years ago we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
We found the food last night rather disappointing - my lamb tikka was just hard bits of lamb in a red sauce, the aloo gost was nicer but could have had a bit more spice.

My husbands lamb madras was completely lacking in flavour and spiciness and also covered in a red sauce.

The restaurant and function room both seemed busy and there was a somewhat frantic atmosphere.

Just not what we were hoping for from this restaurant.

Have been coming here for years & I do enjoy the meals. I prefer coming for a takeaway than sitting down.

Brilliant - food was awesome and staff were very co-operative considering the fact I had my grumpy 13 month old son with me who was screaming the place down. He enjoyed the rice which is miracle as he never eats it at home or anywhere else.. Will be back for sure!
