1️⃣ Remember when you didn't even go to the gym and the only exercise you got was walking to the car in the morning and the fridge at night ?
2️⃣ Remember when the only thing you ate was a take away or out the microwave and you didn't even consider getting some protein or veggies on your plate ?
... 3️⃣ Remember when you went to the gym for the first time and you thought you were going to die because it was that hard and you didn't even know how to use any of the equipment?
But now you're getting to the gym a few nights a week, your consciously trying to eat healthier foods and cutting back on take aways and you're starting to feel a bit fitter and more confident when your using different equipment.
Don't ever think that you're wasting your time in the gym because you can't see physical changes. Big physical changes will take time so be patient and and look to consistently improve on those 3 points and results will come.
There is so much more to exercise than burning calories and using it as punishment to look better.
💃🏼 Do you have more energy throughout the day? 👩‍👧‍👧 Are you less out of breath when going up the stairs or looking after the kids? 🤸🏻‍♂️ Has that back pain you've always had eased off and you can now move better? 🍏 Are you getting more healthier food in your diet ? 😊 Or are you going to the gym because you found something you actually enjoy doing? 💪🏻 Do you feel stronger ?
I can guarantee you are probably a lot doing better than you think. So don't give up because you can't see the changes you want straight away, you're still getting plenty of other benefits in the mean time. Be consistent, keep learning and you'll get where you want.

... My client Shannon started training with me just before I started at the Gym Group, she had never been to the gym or exercised in her life so this was a big thing for her.
Shannon travels from Glasgow every week to train with me as well as following her tailor made gym programme and meal plan/nutritional advice. It’s not been easy as she is on her final year of uni and trying to fit everything in is a struggle however it’s proof if you want something hard enough you can make it work.
The before and after pictures are only 2 months apart and the difference is unreal. Shannon now leads a healthy balanced lifestyle and exercise 3/4 days per week.
I am really looking forward to seeing what the next few months bring. A massive well done😊.

Gym etiquette 101!
Put Equipment Away!!!
This falls into the “what if this stuff was yours” department. After you finish an exercise, put stuff back where it belongs!
... Don’t wait until the end of your workout; you should be cleaning up as you go along! Not sure where something goes? Ask the staff!
If you are lifting and using a bar, please please please put the weights back in some semblance of an order. This is just common courtesy.
Your apathy becomes somebody else’s responsibility, which is not cool.

SOME FAT LOSS THOUGHTS 🤔
1️⃣ If you can't lose fat then you are consuming too many calories. Be honest and track EVERYTHING you eat on myfitnesspal to find out where you can make changes to create a calorie deficit 📝
2️⃣ The worst thing you can do after over indulging is punishing yourself through starvation. This will only lead you back down the road of binging and the cycle will repeat. Accept that it's happened and make sure your next meal is a healthy one instead of havin...g nothing 🥗
3️⃣ Drinking green tea will have absolutely no effect on your fat loss goal 🍵
4️⃣ Just because someone looks good or they have lost weight doesn't mean that they are giving you good advice. Think how it would apply to your lifestyle and goals 🤐
5️⃣ A calorie deficit is the most important factor for fat loss. But what those calories are made up of will determine how you look. Eat between 1.5g - 2g of protein per kg of body weight to build muscle ( look toned) and therefore increase your metabolism 🍗
6️⃣ Training fasted 'on an empty stomach' doesn't burn more fat than what it would after eating. This decision should be based on preference 💀
7️⃣ If you're waiting for the perfect time to get started then you never will. There will always be a party/holiday/dinner/night out. Start now and aim for consistency, not perfection 😇
8️⃣ There is no such thing as a detox. So don't cut out carbs/gluten/dairy 👊🏻
9️⃣ Fruit is a great option for a snack that should be included in your diet. (Banana & peanut butter, Greek yogurt & berries, smoothie etc). But it is not 'free'. If something has calories in it track it. 🍎
1️⃣0️⃣ I can guarantee there are a lot of things that taste better than skinny feels. If you want to lose fat then just eat smaller portions of them. If you can't do that then eat them less frequently 🍕🍫

After 10 years service today we sadly say goodbye to David Frew 😭
David started working as a PT at the club back when it was Fitness First and has stayed through a further transition to Lifestlye fitness and most recently The Gym Group. David has built up a very successful PT business with the club and has been popular not only with staff but our members too.
David has decided its time to move on to pastures new and we are sure he will have every success in the next chapter ...of his Fitness career.

The Importance of working in.
We know the club can be busy during peak times making it harder to get on a piece of equipment that may be on your workout plan.
Please don’t be afraid to ask a member to work in with them between sets if they are currently occupying the kit you are looking to use.
... This means your workout will still flow as you want it to without having to wait around allowing your body to cool down. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
