went for the first time, brilliant venue in an old cellar, great atmosphere, good variety of music, not very expensive for drinks, will definitely be back, highly recommended

Always a great atmosphere, nice bar staff, excellent music on offer. The bouncers are a bit dry with the sense of humour, and I kinda found that really funny.

The type of people that frequent this place really couldn't be more diverse if they tried. People as young as about 20 right up to older people 60+.

One of my fave in Edinburgh. Usually great live music, nice drinks and good atmosphere. Was here for a festival show. My guest from the US truly enjoyed it

Live jazz and blues venue. Music often first-rate, and bar has some great options - I recommend their home made ginger beer (with a wee dram in it, naturally). Very small though, and can get incredibly crowded on a busy night - sometimes to the point where you can't see the band if you're seated.

Cracking little bar. Saw a guitar duo there at the Fringe and loved the intimate atmosphere and the air con - one of the few venues that wasn't stiflingly hot! Impressive given it's a basement bar.

Great music and drinks. Could be a bit bigger but all in all is amazing!

Music here is always great and you can get in for free before 7.30 everyday of the week. It's a tad cosy but this adds to the atmosphere and enjoyment of the music so if you want a table come early. Drinks are moderately priced and there are good options for those who don't drink alcohol as well- you'll need to drink something as the music is too good for you not to end up dancing near the band!
