About The Kelpies

The Kelpies dedicated FB Page. Watch Andy Scott's sculpture rise, 100ft from the ground from start to finish, and discover the vision behind and creation of the Worlds largest pair of steel horses heads. Helix Facebook page : www. facebook.com/HelixFalkirk

The Kelpies Description

Watch the full construction process as the Kelpies rise 100 foot from the ground to tower over the new Helix Parkland, and act as a gateway to the east of Scotland, for sailors travelling through the new section of the Forth & Clyde canal, into Scotland's inland waterways. We will be posting unique photographs and short films capturing the process in full, as well as giving you full insight into the artists inspiration in his own words.
The Kelpies are a large scale horse sculpture, built as monuments to the horse powered heritage of the Falkirk area. For more information on The Kelpies and the The Helix, the massive peoples park where they are based, visit our website or our main Facebook Page:

"What are you thinking about Floppy?" "I'm imagining the size of the carrots you'd need to feed those two!"
Two best friends, Reni and his rabbit Floppy, deep in conversation at The Kelpies.

We received this lovely poem from one of our visitors this week, who felt inspired after taking a Kelpie tour.
Thank you Gillian Sheath for sharing your insightful work.

Scotland is set for more warmer weather this week - giving us plenty of photo opportunities 📸 Check out this one from @inveterate_adventurer on Instagram.

The Kelpies transform each evening when they are lit up in an array of colours. Making it a diffcult choice when deciding to visit us either during the day or at night!

User

Wonderful expierience. Highly recommend the walk along the canal from Falkirk Wheel to Kelpies. Especially in this "tropical" weather. Loved it!

User

What a fantastic day we had,kids had a ball,great view,fantastic park...weather was beautiful....will definitely be back

User

The Kelpies are beautiful, even though I've been calling the the Harpies for weeks.

Had a lovely afternoon in the sun yesterday with my family. Very enjoyable and such a sunny time.

User

The Kelpies are a wonderful construction to see .The surrounding layout is brilliant.plenty of walks , young and older children play areas . Shop , visitor centre ,water , boating on the canals and lots of wildlife . The weather was great , which added to a wonerful visit . Staff couldn’t be more polite .

User

Stunning sculptures in beautiful surroundings. Would recommended a visit if you haven’t yet. We went back twice in 2 days it was that worth it!

User

Spectacular Sculptures on a beautiful day! The entire Park is impressive so well worth a visit on a sunny day!🐴🐴

User

Scotlands pride.

User

Quite a landmark and piece of art!! Lovely bowl of soup from the cafe too with very friendly staff at front desk

User

Lovely visit to the Kelpies yesterday. They are spectacular! Just wish the electric pylons weren’t so visible. The cafe in the visitor’s centre was very good with a wide selection of food, including vegetarian and vegan options. It was clean and staff members helpful and attentive.

Just to note that we used the 5C bus from Falkirk - much shorter walk along the river Carron than going through the Helix from the stadium bus stop.

User

Lovely place, nice park in general and very cool figures. £3 to park wasn’t really clear when driving in.

User

Loved it amazing feature

Love it

User

If you appreciate art, building, construction and metal works then you will appreciate this. Aan odd structure, situated in a odd place, none the less 8 years in the making and 16 weeks to construct . It's definitely worth the stop for some great picture taking, on helix park which is a lovely place for families, right by the canal for a lovely walk. Suitable for all. Disability accessible. Good family attraction in all.

User

I loved it at the kelpys today I think all the staff are really friendly. In the cafee they were so quick in Cumming with an ice pack for. One of the children thanks Leanne and all the staff in the cafee

User

I loved every minute of my visit here today. It was on my bucket list and we came from the West Midlands by train to see Duke and Baron they are wonderful and our guide John was excellent. Thank you so much

User

I love the kelpies I do!! So much so I entered in a competition on this page, you had to give your best memory of the kelpies and they picked me as one of the winners. Yippee I thought I never win anything! And I didn't win anything it's been a month since I give them my address and no prize has arrived. So my advice to you would be don't enter competitions on this page and don't give them your address!! Go see the falkirk wheel maybe they give the winners of competitions their prizes.

User

I found them absolutely amazing

On a par with previous visits to the Great Wall and the Terracotta Warriors....seriously

Our guide Jim, was first class and definitely helped to make our visit very special

User

Honestly had an amazing time at the Kelpies with a group of ladies from Mauchline Rural & Women's Guild, our guide Jim was fantastic, so full of enthusiasm for the sculptures, his love of the Kelpies shone thru & his talk was both fun & informative, the sheer scale of Duke was magnified when we went inside & looked up, absolutely loved it, huge thanks to Jim for bringing Duke & Baron to life.

User

Has the wow factor in extreme couldn't stop staring at them !

User

Had a lovely Family day visiting The Kelpies, they are stunning up close, enjoyed the tour inside also. The guide was great very friendly & informative.

User

Had a brilliant tour with Adam, was amazing to see the inside and the gift that Duke left inside! Sunny day with snowy ochills in the background, Bliss!

User

Great day out lovely weather and the Kelpies are magnificent

User

Great day out kids loved the horses n play area fun for all of them

User

Go to kelpies all the time when out on the bike.. prefer them at night as it brings out the true engineering and workmanship that these guys put in.

At night especially on a frosty night when there's no one around.

It certainly is a magic place to be and visit.

Til the next time . #kelpiesareiconic

Easy location to ride to locally (or if you come by train you can hire bikes at the station and ride down).

Love that you can get an ice cream or treat if you want.

Lovely wee day out here. Great for the family. The kelpies are breathtaking. Our son loved it. Just don't buy a coffee from "artisan" grill. Think they've burnt most of my tastebuds off. No idea how to make a coffee, then argue with you that their dish water is a flat white!

Lovely wee day out here. Great for the family. The kelpies are breathtaking. Our son loved it. Just don't buy a coffee from "artisan" grill. Think they've burnt most of my tastebuds off. No idea how to make a coffee, then argue with you that their dish water is a flat white!
