Job Role: Chef (part-time minimum 16hrs per week) Salary: ┬Ż18K to ┬Ż22K pro rata depending on experience and qualifications Hours: Minimum 16+ hours per week, depending on Business needs.... (This post will require flexibility and ability to work some evenings and weekends.) Job Location: Calderwood, East Calder
About The Larder Calderwood
The Larder Calderwood is a beautiful 24 cover (double with outside covered space) caf├®/bistro situated in the heart of Calderwood estate, which is a fast growing new community on the outskirts of East Calder. The caf├®/bistro has been open for 10 months and we are now planning to increase opening hours. Initially this post will cover the ChefŌĆÖs days off (16 hrs) but will quickly include additional hours as the opening times increase.
The Larder Calderwood is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Larder West Lothian which operates as a social enterprise. This requires patience and compassion for the difficult journeys that some people have to make the move into work.

Thank you Derek & Ewan, thoroughly enjoyed it. Well presented, abundance of ingredients, clear instructions, fun and laughs whilst learning new dishes, would definitely recommend this Cookschool. Just what West Lothian needs, great for families to get together, learn to cook your meal together and eat it together. Looking forward to the Gin Masterclass in May.

Probably the best thing to happen to West Lothian. My daughter attended for 2 years and loved every minute of it. She has learned skills for life not just cooking. Shes now at college studying professional cookery and has just applied for her second year so fingers crossed and its all thanks to the larder. Her 9 year old sister has decided shes going to the larder when shes older ’┐Į. The food is tremendous, all made and served by the students. I cant praise the team enough. Thank you for all you have done, not just for Jade but for everyone, you are all amazing xx

User

I sent my hubby and 2 boys (aged 5 and 8) along for the father's day cookery class and they loved it! They made pasta and pizza from scratch (the youngest now wants a pasta machine!) and enjoyed scoffing it! The staff were brilliant (the class ran over by an hour!) and so good with the children (and dads!) would thoroughly recommend. I'm now looking for a class I can attend! Xx

User

I popped in yesterday having been told about it by my daughter. I arrived just after 10 to have a coffee. I didn't realize I would see the students in the kitchen. I was greeted by a very friendly lady named Rowena. I sat down to have coffee and ordered a scone. They didn't have scones ready but they offered to do one freshly baked! Another 2 ladies came to speak to me and explained what they do. There was a special lunch that day so I had gone at a very busy time. While setting up I was acknowledged several times. I thoroughly recommend if you haven't visited, to do so. Encourage and support the young people. Everything is freshly made. There are pop up lunches and dinners every month so booking is advised as yesterday's was fully booked! Have a look on the website for further info. I for one will be back. I think I'll sign up for making scones !¤śā

User

I didn't know quite what to expect this was a very interesting entertaining evening, Chef Alex, showed how easy it can be to prepare a 3 course meal from various fresh ingredients,

we made a crusted salmon bake, followed by pan fried breast of Duck with stir fired vegetables and rice cooked in the Oven! first for me, plus the meal was gluten free. Dessert was poached pear with plum and panacotta with syrup made from the plums,

Our meals were served to each client with a choice of wine. It made a lovely friendly evening and definitely will go back for another teaching course.

User

Would definitely recommend and canŌĆÖt wait to do again .
