The Lodge is a cosy base to discover Islay. Our room was clean, comfortable and after a well prepared breakfast, you can go for Lagavulin or Laphroaig which are just around the corner.
Nice relaxing break. Wonderful scenery
Very clean and convenient. There is free and ample street parking outside with stunning views of Port Ellen right out your window. Free cold breakfast made for you each morning. Easy walking distance to Laphroaig and Lagavulin. Bus stop is right around the corner if you want to go further Port Askig/Ardbeg. The house keeper is a lovely and kind woman who is happy to answer all your questions.
Warm, cosy, quiet with amazing views. Close to all the amenities, fantastic places to eat, not to mention two minutes from the ferry. Islay is magical and The Lodge is in the most perfect spot.
We really liked this place and Don was very nice with us (he provided me decaf coffee as soon as asked it). I would have rated this B&B 3.5 stars if I could. Good points:
- lovely place just in front of the sea
- nice bedrooms, finely decorated with simplicity and in style with the island
- very clean
- great shower!!
What we didn't like:
- it was very hot and we didn't slept well (they could have just said how to stop the eating!)
- the mattress was terrible and we woke up in the morning with a bad backache
- there was not space in the kitchen to have breakfast for more then 2 people (however there are tables with stools in every room)
- we missed the lovely atmosphere of the Scottish B&B where you have the handmade breakfast and you can chat with the owners.
