The Loners Description

"This week we have a couple of choice tracks from the mysterious Lost Nath. This young chap has given us no information on him or his act but in a way that allows his music to speak for itself and boy does it have something to say.

The first track “Think Thought” slowly chimes in with a quiet whisper until it is elegantly broken by one of the best voices we have heard for a long time. Lost Nath has an incredible range and a turn of phrase that most popular artists would kill for. The songs dynamic flows like a gentle summer breeze and it’s reflective mood can’t help but make you think of those you lost along the journey. This is what music is all about – transporting you back and makes you think whilst providing a beautiful soundtrack to your reminiscing.

“I Feel Fine” continues in the same theme and we can clearly see this mysterious young mans vibe flow through his catalogue. The song is beautifully understated and focuses on melody rather than dynamic which makes Lost Nath's music similar to bands like the great Lemonheads or even the more reflective work of David Gray. Another great piece of chill out summer music.

Finally we have “Product of Environment” which ups the tempo a little whilst still maintaining the distinctive Lost Nath sound. A soaring chorus and solid driving guitar pushes the tune to a new level which frames a great narrative. "

"Hailing from Armadale, near Edinburgh, Lost Nath is basically the work of one man – called Nath unsurprisingly enough, although apparently these three demos were recorded with a full backing band. Not that you’d know, because the focus is very much on Nath’s soft voice.

Now, anyone who knows ASFAR will know singer-songwriters aren’t my usual cup of tea, but there’s certainly some talent on display here. While ‘Morning Shine’ is perhaps a bit too slow-moving for my liking, ‘Sorry For Nothing’ has a bit more verve and life, and there’s a yearning in Nath’s voice that is hard to ignore, while ‘Product Of Environment’ has a positively jaunty feel and is probably the stand-out of the three tracks on offer.

The songs don’t totally feel like the finished article, but there’s obviously promise here, so if stripped-back tunefulness is your thing, keep an eye out on Lost Nath (these tracks and more can be heard at http://soundcloud.com/lostnath). "
