Our Spiritual Home – Easter Elchies House was built in 1700 high above the river Spey. The Jacobean house has been at the centre of The Macallan estate ever since. Today we welcome guests from all over the world to experience our friendly hospitality.

Curiously Small Stills – The Macallan’s stills are the smallest on Speyside. They give the spirit the rich, fruity, full-bodied flavours and viscose feel so characteristic of The Macallan.

The Finest Cut - Only 16% of the distilled spirit actually makes it into the cask. It is the best of the distillation that is taken at 72% ABV and already is distinctly full of flavour and character.

Exceptional Oak Casks – the single greatest contributor to the outstanding quality of The Macallan. We spend more than any other whisky on our oak casks and believe that as much as 60% of the flavour and character comes from the wood. When the new make spirit interacts with the oak casks it imparts the rich and natural diversity of colour throughout the range of The Macallan.

Natural Colour - We rely entirely on the natural colour resulting from the spirit interacting with the wood of the casks and use absolutely no caramel colouring. It is Bob Dalgarno and his team's experience that creates the varied yet consistent colour pallet of The Macallan.

Peerless Spirit - Our Whisky Maker and his team keep a watchful eye on the slumbering casks, selecting the moment when each cask is at the peak of maturity and perfect for bottling. Their knowledge, experience and skill combine to create the whisky that is known as the world’s most precious whisky.
