popped in after looking at the car show on the szme road great pub

User

Went in whilst celebrating new year. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming would highly recommend to pay a visit here

User

We went here last night for a burger and drinks. The food was amazing and the staff so friendly. We will most definitely be back.

User

Visited here on recommendation of a friend whilst in Edinburgh. Can definitely recommend- nice quiet pub down William Street (just off Stafford Street) although I would suspect at a weekend it would be really busy. Excellent service and food delicious. Definitely somewhere to visit.

User

They have great food. The staff is friendly & helpful.

So i visited this place with my mate after being invited by John, we are on a mission to find Edinburghs best burger (if you wish to follow see my newly created, but currently sparse fb page "The Edinburgh Burger Quest" ) and got chatting with John when we were in the Black Ivy one eve and he invited us down to check out his place.

Well am i glad we bumped into John that eve! The burgers here are delicious. I had the French Connection and my mate had the Melville Burger, both were absolutely superb!

You need to get down here and try them for yourselves, its a must, even the chips were spot on.

This place is now sitting at joint top of our list for Edinburghs best burger IMHO and from speaking with John and Evan its only set to get better with menu updates etc, so we will be back to see if they can top what we had (not sure how that is possible tbh).

Sorry small update: got carried away reviewing the food and didnt mention anything about the actual pub, lovely place, nice decor, fresh , brilliant staff (seemed like they couldnt do enough to help, they are a credit to the place) and from what i saw plenty drink choices on offer.

Will be back to enjoy the refreshments in the near future.

User

Popped in during a short stay in Edinburgh. Stayed longer than intended as it was such a lovely place. Very welcoming and friendly staff, especially the manager.

User

My friends and I were here yesterday for our lunch. The food was fantastic! Service was great. Our waiter was a great laugh although I didn't get his name. Would definitely come back

User

Mums birthday and she loves their fish and chips. Lovely meal and great service.

User

Lovely setting, great choice of beers and spirits and a all round nice vibe about the place.

User

It's a fab wee pub really friendly staff and dogs welcome too so even better

User

Great bar, great burger, great service. Really enjoyed the slightly out of town atmosphere after the chaos of the fringe!

User

Go-to pub of choice for any game at Murrayfield, especially before kick-off. The pub is out-of-the-way enough that you can usually get a seat if you arrive a few hours before the game starts, unlike most pubs in the area.

Coming in after the game, you're greeted by friendly staff, asking about the game and well-prepared to deal with the sudden rush of customers. Even with the bar packed, I've never waited more than a couple of minutes for a drink.

Normal prices that you'd expect for the area, good selection of drinks and plenty of well-placed TVs to watch sport on.

If you're in Edinburgh for the rugby, this little gem is a must-see.

User

Edinburgh has much to offer in the way of pubs and great pub food, the Melville is no exception and a favourite place of mine due to the really friendly staff and the kitchen team as they prepare my favourite fast food dish of the moment Chicken Wings, the chef knows I love hot and spicy and his hot spicy sauce dish for Β£20.00 a platter of 60 wings are laid out for all to get stuck into alongside a giant plate of nachos amongst other dishes. Great pub food great atmosphere.

User

Yeah it's local to us, the staff are pleasant, it's reasonably priced, the service is generally good & the food just hits the spot.

User

Made the place our local when up for the scotland v wales game , although place was packed on saturday evening the staff were great .

User

Great place to eat and drink. Fantastic atmosphere when the rugby is on..actually meant to write that the staff were rushed off their feet but still had a smile on their faces. Well done

User

Good to find a bar on a Thursday evening that was not too crowded or noisy so we could enjoy a drink with friends . The only downside was when asking for a coffee at 840pm they had already switched off the coffee machine so it was going to be a problem - I would have thought with the kitchen meant to be open until 9pm that the bar staff would keep the coffee machine going until a bit after 9pm for anyone finishing eating & who may want to end a meal with a coffee . Also anyone going to drive or people who can't drink alcohol for any other reason may sometimes prefer a coffee instead .

User

Was ok we did pay to much though as we where charged for extra people that where not there. Got drunk though witch sofend the blow of the bill. Staff where amazing food was good. Would go back again just make sure i am not drinking there again as it cost nearly 6 quid for a pint.
