The merchant is a great restaurant. Been eating out at the place with my family for a fewyears now. Recently went to the merchant today. Had a macaroni with cheese & side salad,plus a glass of white wine. Also had a GIANT chocolate fudge Ice cream sundae. I shared itwith my mum. It was delicious. ☺😊😀💖❤🍨🍷🍴🍝

Myself and partner just went for few drinks and a meal the staff were helpful and meal was nice good value stayed for good few hours drink prices were good would go back again the Mrs n daughters go in mostly when there shopping 👍👍

My two friends and I have been coming to the merchant most Thursday afternoons and would just like to say how well we are looked after by all the staff! Nothing is a problem for them and they are always very polite and courteous. Especially thanks goes to the big man with the black curly hair who wears the tartan shirt! He’s a gem and a real asset to your pub! People are always quick to complain but not so good about giving praise when good customer service is given.

A great pub with great , friendly, polite staff, hope they all can be recognised accordingly.

Lovely atmosphere ,got sharer food service was fast ..prices were good ...food was amazing..

I attended a private function here on the 1st April and I could not recommend it highly enough.

The food was beautiful and a great variety was available.

The music provided was top class, the DJ was excellent at reading a room and delivering exactly what the crowd enjoyed.

Also the staff were so friendly and helpful. Never waited at the bar for more than a minute or two to be served even though the place was quite busy.

Had dinner at the merchant tonight( we had won a fb comp) its my little boys fave place. The menus been redone but food was delicious as ever and my son got his cookie cup even thought wasnt on menu. Thank you so much�

Great wee pub, manager was excellent � after our food order was wrong, after waiting 50 minuets he got us a free drink �� each �

Great pub good value for money tapas are great choice for sharing staff are great friendly know them well and as am in every Friday after work so am a regular and always made welcome by staff Sarah our fav great team x

Favourite boozer in town for a bottle or 2 of Rosie wine,good service,staff very attentitive but on the downside,my wife tells me the ladies toilet in the basement is absalootly honking and it's not changed in over a year,np probs wi the gents tho,overall a good wee pub...

Food was nice and reasonably priced , was there yesterday which was pie and a pint day but didn't have the pie I ordered !!!! Bar staff rude ....drafty moved seats a couple of times ... Toilets where boggin and most of them out of order and hand dryer not working!!!

Positives: food was good, plenty screens to watch the rugby.



Negatives: bar manager seemed totally against the rugby. Wouldn't put sound on for game until kick off and changed it back to dull music at half time too. From the outside you'd think this was a serious 6 nations pub with a great atmosphere. Unfortunately it's anything but. Won't be back...

Order one of the hunter chicken pies to find the pastry bottom was transparent just a little bit of the outer shell was cooked,so retuned it was told it was just soggy and if I had to order the pie again it would be the same due to filling,nonsense,so just ordered a plain n simple wrap..was most disappointed foods always been good,don't know what's happened as it wasent busy as the time of ordering our food my partner already finished his meal by the time I received my wrap..such a shame!!

This pub was going really well had 16 pints then it went down hill a went into the down stair area to grab a another pint to hit the road n as if took the first drink of it a big jobby came out it n ruined my good fing gstar jacket had to put it in the bin cause of these clowns don't go here they give you pints with jobbys in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Orders were wrong. Fish was disgusting and undercooked so it got sent back. Staff are totally clueless, basically need to keep asking for what you ordered. The “manager”, if you can even call her that, looked like a student in for a saturday job jumping about with a zipper on and again clueless. The smell of smoke off her was disgusting and I smoke, but you would think she had dumped an ashtray over herself before coming to sort the problem. Poor service. Disgusing food. Staff that are tuned to the moon.

Not impressed about the times children are allowed to eat until. Was there on Saturday 21/4/18 about 5.15pm, after walking around looking to find a table we managed to get one, kids were looking at menu then an employee came up to us and said kids are not allowed in to eat after 5pm on a Saturday, really, that's strange as we have been there before at that time and got served no problem. There is no notice tellling you about this, totally disgusted at the attitude of the employee. Won't be going back there again

Decided to go for something to eat after the cinema but after waiting 20min at the bar to be served after repeatedly saying excuse me I asked for the manager only to be told I am busy and don’t like the way you are talking to me!! I was very polite and only wanted an explanation but he walked away. Great customer service!!!! Will not be back and would not recommend
