The Mussel and Steak bar will unfortunately be closed today due to maintenance work.
Don’t worry we will be back up and running from 12pm tomorrow for lunch! Bookings can be made online or call the restaurant on 0131 225 5028 from 10am tomorrow.

We came here for our wedding anniversary last October. The food was beautiful and very friendly staff. We will be returning in October again �

My family and I loved the food and the atmosphere. We were seated upstairs. The food was amazing and it was a great way to relax at the end of a long day taking in the sights.

Exceptionally busy when we went probably due to the fact it was a Saturday evening, Fringe fest and Tattoo. Manged to grab a table outside, whoop whoop. Really, not to be disappointed , staff attentive, food absolutley fab. Started with oysters shot bloody mary, followed by the mussels, haggis in filo pastry fab fab fab. Highly recommended great place

Excellent, my husband and I were in Edimburgh only for 4 days and we returned twice, inviting a couple of friends the second time. It was delicious and well prepared for everybody: the oysters, the haggis, the steak, the chips, but especially the mussels. And for a good price, except for the wine which we found a little too espensive.

Excellent!!! Superb food and service was flawless. If available, when you are there, get your fingers well and truly sticky on those Langoustine's, mouth wateringly delicious. We are booked again for the end of January, our new treat :D

We had the early bird deal with a soup starter & mussels in white wine, shallots & garlic as our mains.

The food was delicious & you got plenty for your money, service was attentive & friendly & the place had a nice atmosphere!

Excellent restaurant in Edinburgh. One of my favourites and the best in Edinburgh. Excellent seafood and would highly recommend. Have been and do eat her research regularly and is always superb. Have eaten a variety of different things and everything has been high quality produce and cooked perfectly. Staff great- very friendly and attentive, atmosphere relaxed and welcoming. Always looked after very well here, thank you!

Cracking dinner the seafood was absolutely amazing and the steak was divine!

I couldn't recommend the mussel and steak bar enough, if you visit Edinburgh it's a must go place.

Amazing food. Great Service. The place has a very warm vibe. Indulged my sweet tooth with excellent Raspberry Cheesecake and Banana Parfait.

Absolutely fantastic! Can not recommend highly enough. Fantastic atmosphere and brilliant customer service. The food was so fresh and really delicious, can’t wait to go back and sample some more of the menu!!

We were given the main menu and only when asked if they had a lunch menu where we given one where the prices were half that of the main menu. A little sneaky on their part. And for a restaurant where the main courses are basically seafood and steak, you would expect them to get both right. Unfortunately the steak I ordered was tough, gristly and inedible as could be seen by the half chewed pieces left on my plate. The other members of my party reported their starters were delicious - Cullen skink and tomato and basil soup. The other mains - cod, mussels and another steak were very tasty. In hindsight I should have sent my steak back but our time was limited as we had booked a festival show.

Two months ago, our favourite surf and turf had to be sent back 3 times, as the usual most delicious sauce was like water. Highly embarrassing as we’d taken friends who were visiting and had been raving about it all day.

Last night was slight improvement from the last although the salt content in everyone’s dish was extremely high.

When you go to restaurant with family and the bill is close to £300 you should not be leaving disappointed.

Going to have to find another favourite restaurant now!!

My husband and I dined here yesterday evening. We were seated upstairs as it was a busy Saturday evening. Not a problem. We ordered oysters to start, mussels and a seafood platter. There was a large party in and after a short while we heard a screech followed by someone saying something about a mouse. We thought we must have misheard and carried on with our conversation whilst awaiting our starters. Only then something caught my eye and sure enough on the floor under the table next to us is a grey mouse happily grooming itself. Obviously I got a shock so said quite loudly to my husband oh god it is a mouse!! The waiter came over and looked for it but was long gone. I shot my husband and look that said should we stay but our starter came. We were reassured that all measures were in place but it can happen. I felt like I constantly spent the rest of the time scanning the floor. The whole atmosphere changed. Our mains arrived and were adequate but slightly overpriced in our opinion. We heard another screech and sure enough a different sized mouse was having a jaunt around the restaurant! Just then my husband pointed out that there was a hole in the bottom of the fixed seating and sure enough a tiny baby mouse was coming out of it. The waiter came running over with a pen in his hand and I said to be honest it was quite cute! We pointed out the hole he declared 'oh shit' and went and got a brillo pad to block the hole up. We kind of said oh yeah its one of those things but after leaving we were quite shocked. We have our own pubs and restaurants and know that really we would be in a lot of trouble if this happened and just passed it off as casually to customers. It was just so weird it didn't feel real! Anyhow the top and bottom of it is we paid 73.00 for some lovely oysters, adequate mains, awesome chips, a bottle of wine and dinner with a family of rodents. We have agreed that this will be our second and last visit.



I have changed the review to this as both myself and my husband are now suffering with severe food poisoning. Doctor has recommended we contact environmental health. On perusal of other reviews it is quite clear management do not respond.
