The Orchard is a traditional family run, local greengrocer, serving the community and local businesses with a wide range of quality fresh fruit, vegetables, fish and fine foods.

Our emphasis is on quality produce so we were again thrilled to receive a further three prestigious one gold star rating at the Great Taste Awards. This gives us a total of nine Great Taste awards in 3 years and two International awards.

It is now 5 years since we took over the existing business “The Orchard”. In this time we have developed the business adding many new stock ranges.

We are a family run business with a wonderful team of staff. In the shop we have Liz, Anne, May and Hazel with Malcolm undertaking our deliveries come rain, snow or shine. Our staff provide friendly personal service with a smile which we know is crucial for customer satisfaction.

We continue to expand our delivery service by sending anything via courier throughout the UK. This can be Gift Baskets, Preserves or even a bag of potatoes! We continue to offer FREE local delivery.


Fruit & Vegetables:

We are very proud of the quality of our fresh fruit and vegetables. We regularly stock many goods that you won’t find in the supermarket, including a large range of frozen fruit available in large or small quantities, and will do our best to source anything unusual that you need for a special recipe.

We can also order prepared fruit and vegetables eg. peeled potatoes, diced or julienne vegetables, soup mix, melon balls, fruit cocktail, etc to ease your catering preparations.

Fish & Seafood:

Our fresh fish counter contains a vast selection of fish including Haddock; Smoked Haddock; Salmon; Smoked Salmon; Trout; Sea Bass; Lemon Sole; Cod; Kippers; Smoked Mackerel; Fish Cakes and Dressed Crabs.

In addition to the selection of fish and seafood available on a daily basis we regularly have in stock Finnan Haddock; Halibut; Scallops; Smokies; and Tuna.

We also regularly order the following for our customers: Bream; Coley; Langoustines; Lobster; Mackerel; Mussels; Oysters; and Swordfish.

Fish can be ordered whole or filleted.

Fine Foods
Our shelves are filled with a range of excellent quality produce from some of the best, award winning suppliers in the country.

We have listed a small selection of what’s available on our website but to see our full stock why not come and visit us at The Orchard and Biggar Flavour, High Street, Biggar.

We have added a new range of dried goods – nuts, fruits, snacks including chocolate & yoghurt coated treats, rice, quinoa, couscous, pulses- to our shelves.

“Free From” products are also now available such as Tofu, Soya milk, vegan products – and if we don’t have what you are looking for we are happy to source things from our wide range of suppliers.


Biggar Flavour Preserves:

We began making our own preserves shortly after taking on the business and are incredibly proud of this range of hand made preserves. Made by the traditional open pan method in small batches with no additives or preservatives the Biggar Flavour range is delicious and beautifully presented. Not only is it perfect as a store cupboard staple it makes an ideal gift for Christmas, Birthdays or Good Luck in your New Home too!

The Pink Grapefruit also won a Silver award at the Worlds Original Marmalade Awards in 2012 - this is an international competition. We also won a silver medal for our Mixed Pepper Chutney at another international festival - One World One Chutney
