Another week in lockdown has passed and another week our lovely cafe and deli has been closed 😌 we're deeply missing all our customers, staff and the general buzz of The Pend but for now we're all safe, healthy and following the Government's guidelines of staying home to saves lives and our NHS. We cannot wait to see you all at the other side when our doors will be wide open, the table and chairs, both inside and out, are full, our deli counter is re-stocked, the cake cabinet is replenished and we are back doing what we love and do best - serving high quality, freshly made food and drinks to all you lovely customers ❤🧀🥑🍳🥓🍰☕🍵🍷🍽 take care everyone Leanne, Irene & Geoff

Hello Everyone A quick update on the Thursday 23rd April LIVE Stream on Seafood recipes. Great News- Stirling’s new Fishmonger ( The Fresh Fish Place), at 45 Drip Road, Stirling is where we are getting the fresh shrimp/ prawns and the oysters from. I’ve ordered them so they will be the freshest produce available straight from the Lochs and seas off the coast of Scotland. If you haven’t tried this place yet it’s an absolute gem. The selection of different types of fish and s...hellfish are excellent quality and fresh. If you go to try them (to work through with me during the stream) Please tell Stephen the owner, that you’re watching the PEND Cafe, Deli & Bistro LIVE Seafood stream, he’ll then ensure you get the exact ‘catch’ we will be using and cooking with😁👍 Stay safe folks and I’ll keep you posted on all developments. Warmest regards and a trillion thanks. The Pend ❤️

Hi Everyone👋
Firstly, thank you for watching our first recipe show and following us on our Facebook Page. We hope to continue to have some more light hearted fun with food and keep it simple 🍷😁
We also so hope that you’re all safe and keeping healthy during this lockdown?
... Further to our last recipe show (which we streamed LIVE last week).
We’ve given this next show some thought and decided we would use the lockdown period as an opportunity to try and tempt you to try some new foods that perhaps on first hearing about it makes you go ..... “ yuk!🤑😁👍 LoL
So I want to try and introduce you to different ways of preparing and eating “seafood” - but ....accompanied with the best wines to REALLY compliment them.
To keep it simple, we are going to do a Spanish Tapas dish called: Prawn Pil Pil (Gambas al Pil Pil) which is one of my favourite dishes. Also we shall show you how to prepare ( shuck ) and eat oysters ( two ways) as appetisers. Both of these foods are highly nutritious and really good for you👍😁 And all sustainable and locally sourced caught and farmed.
*The time we shall stream LIVE will be 12 noon on Thursday 23rd of April. *
I’ll put a reminder out early next week. So hope you can join us 🤞🤞and look forward to seeing you then.
Stay safe folks and stay indoors. Warmest regards and thank you for being supportive 👍😁 😘🌹 The Pend

Ta dah! Easy Banana Loaf - done - and I have to say it smells amazing! 😋🍌 The ingredients are as follows; 140g Sef-raising Flour 140g Caster Sugar... 140g Softened Butter 2 Eggs 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder 2 very ripe Bananas
Method Mix the sugar into the softened butter. Then whisk in the eggs. Then add the flour, baking powder and bananas and whisk together. Tip into a loaf tin. Bake in a preheated oven for 30 mins (180C/160C Fan/Gas oven) And Enjoy! You can decorate it with icing sugar (if you can get any in a supermarket!) And dried banana chips - which is nice too 😊

Many Thanks Treasa O Duicinn👋😁 For your comment-
Here’s one dish that I love, it’s really healthy and easy to do, all you need is toaster or grill to make toast and a frying pan😁👍
... I call it: Geoff’s Mushroom and Kale Rumble 😁🍷
So here goes:- * 250g mushrooms ( any type you like best)
* 1 garlic clove * 1 tbsp olive oil * ( extra virgin preferably)
* 160g bag kale
* 4 free range eggs ( we use the free range ones from “Egglicious Eggs” at Foot O Herne Farm, Whins of Milton, Stirling, FK78HG - Tel 07802 830756 )
Slice the mushrooms and crush the garlic clove. Heat the olive oil in a large non-stick frying pan, then fry the garlic over a low heat for 1 min. Add the mushrooms and cook until soft. Then, add the kale. If the kale won’t all fit in the pan, add half and stir until wilted, then add the rest. Once all the kale is wilted, season with salt and pepper
Now crack in the eggs and keep them cooking gently for 2-3 mins. Then, cover with the lid to for a further 2-3 mins or until the eggs are cooked to your liking. Serve with toasted sourdough or whatever bread bread you like best.
Now here are my personal additions to really make it ‘sing’ 😁👍
Add a few chilli flakes and chop a few tomatoes and add it when you’re cooking the mushrooms. Equally, if you like, you can add a little chorizo sausage by chopping up a few slices into small chunks and add that to the mix. Alternatively, if you don’t like chorizo just use normal coarse sausages. Personally, I like the spicy Italian sausages, just peel the skin off and crumble the sausage meat into the mix and slowly cook it until nice and golden brown... delish! 😁
Finally, if you’re not counting calories, place on the toast some grated cheese of your choice and then add the dish over the top.
It’s healthy and scrumptious and easy to make folks. If you have a go please take some photos and share with us us your pics and let us know what you think😁👍😁
Stay safe and stay indoors. Warmest regards everyone 👍🍷🍺😁
