We dined on Thursday 7th September, on a busy evening when the restaurant was full. The welcome was warm, the cuisine was superb and service was exemplary - we felt well looked after and enjoyed our meal all the more for it. Thank you, we will be back - and soon!

Went to The Pheasant on Thursday 7th September ..... Very disappointing.

Arrived at 5.30pm. We were the first customers of the evening. I ordered the venison for a main course but told they had run out. Went for the three course set menue :- starter ok, main was goats cheese salad which despite not being my first choice was very tasty. Waited ages to order dessert. Chose a dessert from the dessert board on the wall only to be told these desserts were not being served. Shown a list of desserts on a hand held board, so ordered a random dessert which consisted of a liquid that was like cold coffee with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Couldn't spoon out the liquid which was in a tall glass so had to drink it from the container before spooning out the ice cream.

Was told that 25 people had booked for meals that evening and at 6.30 pm people began to arrive. By the time we left, the restaurant was so busy it was all we could do to pay the bill, which we did with cash feeling this was best way to avoid a delay due to the chaos.

On leaving, my husband asked for his coat which had been hung up and he was given two coats one of which wasn't his. I dread to think what the rest of the evening was like because although the venue is pleasant and the staff polite and friendly as you may gather from my comments preparation was poor and it was very disorganised.

At 7 pm the restaurant was very busy and staff were dashing about so it was impossible to offer feed back before we left.

Fantastic meal for both me and my vegan girlfriend. She often finds it hard to find restaurants that fully take her dietary requirements into account, but was able to speak directly to the chef who recommended a couple of options. I had the meatloaf which will absolutely excellent. Highly recommended!

Great lunch. Authentic Italian cuisine and friendly service.

What a find! You wouldn't expect it from the name, but this is an excellent traditional Italian restaurant run by a lovely couple. We were staying nearby for a week and came twice is was so good! A lovely relaxed feel and the food was excellent. A must.
