The Pitlochry Hydro Hotel

Room 219 has the most magnificent views of Pitlochry and the surrounding landscape. Friendly, helpful staff throughout the hotel - nothing was too much trouble. The DBB Saver Package is great value for money and we were more than happy with the limited menu on offer, as we still had three tasty courses each night. The restaurant was very busy at times but we never waited long to be seated. Both the waiting and bar staff were courteous at all times despite being run of their feet and everything seemed to run very smoothly. Special mention for Frank who kept us entertained with his friendly banter x All housemaids we met were also cheery and helpful. The Ironing Room was a new concept for us as we had expected an iron to be sent to our room - but we embraced it with a fair bit of hilarity (tip - do not remove irons from the ironing room though as you are likely to trip the switch in your room ☺️ooops!). The Jacuzzi was broken so a bit disappointing but it meant we had the swimming pool and sauna pretty much to ourselves during our 2-night stay. Receptionists & night porter also helpful. Huge thanks to the GM Chris and Assistant Manager Artur for going out of their way to make our stay extra special - great job guys and we will definitely see you again sometime in the New Year X Thanks for arranging the Champagne Indulgence Package in our room upon arrival at such short notice - well worth the money x

The hotel is beautifully situated looking over a valley towards the highlands. Despite a refurbishment the public spaces and rooms are tired and need refreshing. The service varies from friendly to disinterested however the food inthe restaurant is good. A good base but far from 21st century luxury which can be found at a good price in this area.

Staff were lovely, and the room was bright, spacious and clean. Only downside was the breakfast which was a buffet style and not to my taste but was warm and did the job.

Excellent hotel, friendly staff, quiet location, great food and reasonably full.
The hotel is sited above Pitlochry which is a quaint picturesque town. The walk down to the town is easy, particularly if you use the footpath with its steps to the side of the hotel. The walk back may require partaking of some fortifying sustenance from one of the local hostelry's in the town. That is if you've managed to leave room after the really good meals provided by the hotel.
We would definitely revisit this fine establishment which is a credit to its staff.

My wife and I really liked our stay. The hotel looks like a castle. It's old for sure, but the room was clean. The amenities were great. The price was right and the breakfast was FANTASTIC! I would definitely stay here again if I pass through.

As a regular visitor to several Shearing hotels by car (or they have coaches ) The Pitlochry has the same high standard as their other hotels but with the added bonus of a pool, sauna, gym and jacuzzi.

I really enjoyed my stay here - lots of space to park, sit, eat, sleep, good views and a leisure centre onsite. It's in that category of a classic old Scottish building that could do with a bit of an update, but if you take it as what it is, you'll probably really enjoy yourself.
