Beautiful building, lovely recent renovation , but more a cocktail bar than pub and the prices are accordingly not cheap

WOW what an amazing place, love the interior, two cosy fires where we sat down before dinner with a stunning Rosemary and orange Gin, and beers for the boys, accompanied with pork skins and samples of liver and John who waitored on us hand and foot. Delicious dinner and great atmosphere. The place to go! We will be back.

Love the pub, nicely done out and great selection of food and drinks. Pub band Borderline on a Wednesday are good entertainment too.

Really good variety of foods, many of which are local in origin. Pretty good range of beers too including cask and craft. Friendly staff and great building. Would highly recommend

Bit of a last minute booking for dinner with family and not sure what to expect. It exceeded expectations, good and varied menu with fantastic food. Attentive service in a really nice environment. A great find and looking forward to going back soon. Highly recommended.

There is a new hidden treasure in the Scottish Borders village of Lilliesleaf near Melrose! The Plough Inn has been lovingly renovated to a very high standard into a cosy and inviting bar/ lounge and a gastro dining room, with plans to open overnight rooms in the near future. I noticed a great deal of attention has been paid to detail and also to customers’ comfort and relaxation – from coat hooks under the bar, to a carefully chosen range of Feverfew tonic waters (I had elderflower tonic, delicious), Scottish gins, house beer, and a very decent wine menu. The staff were friendly yet professional, food was superb – the up and coming French trained chef Fraser prepared a high quality very reasonably priced menu including chorizo and broad bean risotto with pan fried Coley, posh mac’n’cheese, as well as a number of other attractive menu choices including for vegetarians- oh and a range of puddings to die for (I had café crème brulee attractively served with mini brownies). After the meal I enjoyed choosing from the range of Shibui teas (I had a redbush with blueberry – a very delicate and fragrant choice), and locally sourced chocolates from coccoaeccos. A great night out for anyone interested in fine food in a relaxing environment for a reasonable price- am sure the establishment will be winning awards in the years to come.
