The new menu is AMAZING! Not only was the food exceptional but all the staff were so friendly and welcoming! It is a great family environment and now that it is table service it makes it a lot easier with the little ones. There was clean plates all round!!! Will defiantly be recommending to all of my friends :)
Smoked chicken melted in the mouth and sweet potato fries and pickled slaw were delicious. Will be back again

Brought my two King Charles Cavaliers with us for lunch. Staff are really friendly and the beer garden was really nice. Food was very good.
Brilliant wee pub. Got a wee family section and lunch kids menu. Service was second to none. Food delicious!! Staff were just lovely!!

Service wasn't good, food was very poor. definitely won't be back such a shame as it has potential, the fish was like a reheat and tasteless disappointed π
Nothing wrong with the food but Β£25.15 for a chicken burger a hot dog a very small chicken slider (tiny bap) two small portions of fries small fresh orange and lemonade small lemonade and lime and lemonade was a bit steep. Served in plastic baskets. Was expecting the large portions of haggis neeps and tatties and sausage and mash they used to do. Next time I'll get the same meal at the harbour for a third of the price.
Customer service is disgraceful and to get told by the manager to f off when asking for a drink is shocking!
8 of us from Aberdeen had been the year before & liked it, was here yesterday & nearly every table had not been cleared, we did get 1 but waited an absolute age for our drinks (not the young lad's fault) clearly understaffed! we had a bus to catch so by the time we got our cocktails was a case of drink up!
Used to regularly visit The Rule so was looking forward to visiting after the refurb. DΓ©cor lovely and staff were great. Am afraid we were not fans of the new menu though. Not the traditional pub style menu which was suitable for all ages and at good price - which is definitely lacking in St Andrews. Would say it was not value for money - burrito served in kitchen foil in a red basket for Β£6??! Sorry these regular customers won't be returning - looked at menus elsewhere on walk home! Know a few others who won't be returning either. Bring back the old menu - maybe that is why there weren't many people in today at 5.30/6pm when usually you are so busy? Staff looked like they had very little to do - again not usual for the Rule. So disappointed.
