Happy birthday to us! 35 years of the finest single cask whisky and to celebrate Liggys in stockbridge made us a wonderful celebratory cake of one of our recent bottlings!

Dear members, our kitchen will be closed today for essential maintenance. The venue will remain open for you to enjoy drams and libations in our company. We hope this will be resolved soon. More updates to follow tomorrow.

Shopping done, kids out, and Monday morning blues so far away… Now is the time to treat yourself. We will just help you do that and present a three dram tasting of single casks over twenty years old, with a selection of aperitive snacks to get the juices flowing.

What a perfect way to enjoy the start of the week end! We present three single cask drams from the Society and serve a succulent steak to soak up all the alcohol. Educational, yet relaxed.

This tasting is for the curious minds who love to experiment and make new discoveries. Each week we will explore the world of other spirits, non single malts, non scotch. Grains, Rums, Cognacs, Armagnacs, bourbons, whiskies from around the world... We will taste them all with you in a three dram tasting and present their history and specificities one spirit at a time. Every week will be different.

Experience the unique nature of single cask with three completely different drams from the Society, each of them introduced by our ambassador.
We will be serving a delicious burger after the tasting.

Come and help yourself to our Society cheeseboard and we will find three matching Society whiskies. Our bar staff will be on hand to introduce the drams and initiate you to food and drinks pairing.
Every Thursday from 6pm till 9pm

Very relaxed atmosphere and comfortable surroundings. We had an excellent afternoon with some nice whisky and bar food, looking forward to returning soon.

Great food, great views and of course fantastic whisky. The staff are outstanding and made sure my first time there was amazing. Met some really interesting nd down to earth people too. Fantastic. Just wish I had joined a lot earlier.

Found this place quite by accidentas we were wandering Edinburgh looking to get out of the rain. It looked so warm and inviting that we couldn't resist. We weren't disappointed. The bar is wonderful with tasteful furniture, open fire and an amazing selection of small batch whiskies. Staff were very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. Seats were full in the bar but they allowed us to sit in the Tasting Room as it wasn't being used. Furnished with a central, oval-shaped bar we were able to sit and chat for several hours and enjoyed some top quality drinks and service. £5 - £8 for a gin and Fevertree, (depending on your tipple). Wonderfully dark and chocolatey porter and a whiskey section to die for. Wpuld definitely recommend it for cosy couples, group tasting (as advertised) or comfortable easy drinking with friends

Excellent first visit to the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, typically left it to the last minute but had an excellent bar meal. Will be back to try the restaurant.
