Just arrived at Tilted Duck, two Oils by James Morrison RSA and one mixed media by Anda Patterson. These two artists were founder members of The Glasgow Group in 1957 and these early works were produced in 1956 and 1957. The other work, Gate at Carcary, was painted by Morrison in 1977 after he moved from Glasgow to Montrose.

We would like to welcome Retro Showcase into The Antique Centre at Doune, they have been collecting all types of ephemera and vintage items for the last 50 years.
On display is an extensive collection of car magazines, cinema reviews and posters dating from the 50’s up to the 90’s as well as original cardboard signs which were ferreted away in a shop in the 50’s only to reappear here at the Antique Centre in 2018.

We found this place on the first day of our visit while staying outside of Falkland and spent 6 hours shopping. A short respite in the cafe provided us with delicious treats and cappuccino. The lemon drizzle cake was very lemony and the service was wonderful. I started to get a headache and our server, a lovely woman, couldn't have been more helpful. I found a great book on the Battle of Culloden that I read before visiting the battle field and museum. The only problem is that it was in the "antique" book section but was written in 1977 when I was 30! The men had been golfing and we went back with them another day and spent a few more hours amongst the different shops coming back with more great finds. Hoping to return one day for a repeat performance including the cake and coffee....and another dose of Scottish hospitality 💕

User

Was a nice shopping spot, easy to find. Lots of variety.
