The Scottish Fiddle Orchestra Description

The SFO offers exciting fun-filled concerts of music, song and dance, in the Scottish tradition. Rhythmic jigs, reels, strathspeys, and other pieces in Scottish dance styles are mixed with nostalgic slow airs, songs, and tone poems. A compere provides added entertainment. Dance, fiddle, or piping performances by young people, and arrangements which include pipe bands, are often featured.

The Orchestra gives about 6 concerts per year in the UK, to a total audience of some 10, 000 people. It also tours major venues overseas. The SFO has entertained packed houses from Edinburgh and Glasgow to London and Belfast, and from Canada to Australia and New Zealand.

Concerts are lively, and always generate enthusiastic participation from the audience. Supporters travel to UK concerts from all parts of the country, and often include some visitors from overseas. Many people come back year after year to tap their feet, clap and sing along to the music.

The SFO is a Registered Scottish Charity: SC010753
