League Match
West Calder - 2
... Livi North - 4
Scorers: Marc McLeod, Sam Ashbee
MOM: it should go to the dodgy ref for his 2 assists!!!! - seriously but we give it to Ross Lindsay
West Calder took on high flying Livi North at the Livi Football Stadium on Sunday morning with a 10:30am kick off.
LN started brightly and had a couple of early chances to take the lead but WC kept them out.
On 15m WC had a chance when Liam Sayers ran through on goal on the right, he had a shot which was blocked for a corner by a defender getting back, but the better ball would have been inside to Luke who was alone on the edge of the box.
The corner was played to the back post where Andy Dunn’s header went over.
17 mins and LN took the lead when a ball was played through to their player who was a mile off side, the ref obviously forgot his specs and their player ran through but squared the ball for an easy tap in for Parky, 0-1.
20 mins and WC get a free kick inside the LN half, the ref walks over to the WC coach and after a brief discussion he sends the match reporter out of the stadium for being a petulant kid - apparently!!!
End of match report.....
WC get a goal on 44m when Marc McLeod scores a cracker from just inside the box (so I’m told).
Half Time: 1-1
Reliably told that LN got a goal after another ref blunder, this time the ball was out for a throw in, but the ref ignored the signal and LN played on and scored when WC stopped 1-2.
LN score a 3rd midway through the second half and add another towards the end (so I’m told).
With time running out Sam Ashbee steps up and lobs the LN keeper to make it 2-4 (a stunner so I’m told).
The game ends and apparently WC done nowt the whole game, well apart from give LN a scare and had it not been for a terrible ref that couldn’t run or keep up with play then the match would have ended 2-2 and a better reflection on the game.
Next up for WC is another game at Livi stadium, this time against Livi CFC with a 1:30pm kick off.

Cup Semi Final
Craigshill Thistle - 5
... West Calder - 0
MOM: Ross Lindsay
The game kicked off with both teams hoping to get a result and on 12m Craigshill break through with a ball into the WC box, it goes wide where their player hits the post.
20 minutes and CT get a couple of corners on the bounce, the one from the right sees their player un-challenged as he heads into the net, 1-0.
25 minutes and CT get another corner, again a free man runs in and heads home to extend the CT lead, 2-0.
With half time approaching CT get a free kick on the right near the corner flag, it’s chipped into the box where CT turn is home for 3-0.
Half Time - 3-0
57 mins and a CT player runs into the WC box rounds the keeper but puts his shot wide, in runs a teammate and with an open goal puts it over from 4 yards, a let off for WC.
On 59 mins WC break, Liam Sayers runs through the middle of the park and tries to play in Luke but it’s behind him, Liam Manson collects it inside the CT box and lays it off to Sam but his shot is straight into the keepers hands.
63 mins and CT get a penalty and convert it for 4-0.
64 mins and a WC foray into the CT half ends with a Manson shot which goes just wide.
65 mins and a Sam shot from 35 yards goes agonisingly wide.
66 mins and WC get another chance to score as a ball falls to Luke but he rushes his shot and his kick goes wide.
76 mins and Manson runs from midfield and his shot is just wide of the right hand post.
81 mins and CT complete their scoring and first from open play as their player hits a shot into the net from 12 yards,5-0.
A disappointing result for WC and no doubt the team will be drilled on defending set pieces at training on Tuesday.

Friendly Match
West Calder - 6
... Salisburgh - 2
Scorers: Darren Ofarrell, Sam Ashbee, Luke Jarvie, Liam Sayers 2, Euan Blue.
MOM 1st half - Sam Ashbee/Ross Lindsay
MOM 2nd half - Declan Sneddon
West Calder took on Salsburgh on a cold and wet Thursday night and with 22 players available there would be a different team playing each half.
First half and WC controlled the match and took the lead when Darren back from injury spun on a sixpence in the box and drove the ball home.
Sam Ashbee continued his scoring form by scoring from 30 yards.
Luke got a much needed goal that will do wonders for his confidence as he continues to gain experience at amateur level.
Half Time : 3-0
A quick change of players and WC found themselves on the back foot and 2 goals behind after 15 mins, but a James chant of bananas saw WC change formation and finally get a grip of the second half.
Two goals from Liam Sayers and a good goal from Euan saw WC regain the lead in the second half.
Liam Sayers should have had a hatrick but the ref called a couple of goals off for off side which seemed harsh.
Full time 6-2
Some good performances form some new players and WC are ready for this weekends game in the semi final against Craigshill at Livingston Stadium.

League Match
Burnside FC - 6
... West Calder AFC - 1
Scorer: Sam Ashbee
MOM: Sam Ashbee
Sent off: Val Banica.
West Calder were away to Burnside at Albyn Park hoping to build on the good performance from last weeks game against the Harvester.
Burnside started well and had a couple of good chances to take the lead in the first 5 minutes but a few good saves from debutant keeper Val kept the score line blank.
15 minutes and WC were unlucky not to take the lead when Liam Sayers was played though on goal, out ran their keeper and as Liam tried to lob him he manages to get a hand to it.
30 minutes and Burnside take the lead when WC get too tight to a player who turns his defender and goes on to score, 1-0.
41 mins and Burnside extend their lead when they work it through the centre with James unlucky not to clear the ball as he crashes into the right post, 2-0.
Half Time: 2-0
Not long into the second half and WC lose their keeper who up until then was having a good game, but the ref spoiled the game by sending off Val who rushed out for a through ball and collided with the Burnside player, it changed the game and some say the gaffer is still at Albyn still fuming at the ref.
55 mins and WC were chasing the game, a ball was played to Mo who was so far offside everyone except the ref stopped expecting the whistle, but when it didn’t come Mo rattled the ball into the goal, 3-0.
60 mins and Burnside get a penalty but their player threatened the corner flag with his kick!!
A minute later and Burnside get another goal to go 4-0 up.
72 mins and WC with a rare break into the Burnside half win a free kick 40 yards out, up steps the magician Sam Ashbee who is no stranger to scoring a wonder goal, nobody except him thought it was possible but he sends the ball into the net to make it 4-1 - take a bow son....
The goal gives WC a bit of hope but Burnside get two late goals to make it 6-1 final score.
A disappointing result for WC who had hoped for something out of the match.
Next up a tough test against Craigshill in the cup semi final at Livingston Stadium.

League Match
Harvester AFC - 9
... West Calder United AFC - 2
Scorer: Liam Sayers, Harvester OG
MOM: Ross Lindsay
West Calder took on one of the best amateur teams in Scotland and can be proud of their performance, especially the first 65 mins of the match where they more than matched their opponents.
The Harvey got 2 early goals but found themselves being pegged back by a WC side that upped their game, there were chances for both teams to take the lead but the Harvey managed to sneak a goal just before half time.
Half Time: 3-2
On 64 min with WC pushing for the equaliser WC were caught out with a ball over the top which the Harvey converted to extend their lead, shortly thereafter WC lost a couple of key players and with the Harvey bringing in experiences fresh legs the match swung their way and they rallied with a few goals towards the end.
Despite the score line WC can hold their heads high after giving the Harvey a bit of a scare for 65 mins.
Next up for WC is another away game, this time it’s Burnside at the Albyn Park.

Where to start with this one....
West Calder were playing their first game inside Livingston Stadium and the team was full of confidence in getting a result against the leagues bottom team with 0 points.

Half Time: 2-0
48 mins and WC continue where they left off as they increased their lead when the ball was won by Ross who runs into the box, he squares is to Manson who takes a touch before drilling it home, 3-0.
55 mins and WC win a free kick 30 yards out, Sam steps up and hits the top of the bar.
60 mins and WC hit the self destruct button when a nothing ball out on the right is played long into the WC box where the smallest player on the pitch wins a header to make it, 3-1
CVD’s tails are up and on 64 mins a James error at the back gifts a goal, 3-2.
WC are now nervy and give away a needless free kick on 67 mins, up steps the CVD player who took the earlier free kicks but this time he gets it over the wall and into the top right corner, 3-3.
CVD sense blood and are now dictating play, on 78 mins a ball into the box is met by their player who’s shot is well saved by Martyn.
83 mins and CVD complete a remarkable comeback when their player is given too much time in the middle of the park, he hits a shot from 35 yards which ends up in the goal, 3-4.
84 mins and WC are now looking for an equaliser, they win a free kick outside the box but Liam Sayers puts it over.
89 mins and Euan hits a shot from distance which is just over the bar.
