The Venue At Jarrow

Car parking at the Civic Hall. The Civic Hall car park is now chargeable. However our customers can obtain a full refund of the charge against their bill. The reason we have introduced a charge is to ensure our customers can always find a parking space. On many occasions customers were finding it difficult to find a parking space and were parking on Ellison street which has a time limit of one hour (only just increased from 30 minutes) and risking a penalty charge from the lo...cal authority. Please take your ticket into the restaurant with you there is no need to leave it in the car as the car park is monitored by licence plate recognition cameras. Please ensure you pay for sufficient time as you cannot 'top up' if you go over. It's probably worth putting £2 into the machine as this will give you up to 3 hours and you are going to be refunded anyway. Don't forget, Saturday night is steak night with 2 sirloin steaks and a bottle of wine for just £29.95 and free car parking.

Starting tomorrow Tuesday the 20th November, Giovanni's restaurant will be open from 9.00am for a new lite bite menu, see the enclosed flyer. Now you can sit in the comfort of our lovely restaurant to enjoy a tea or coffee with a light snack. The lite bite menu will be available from 9.00am until 3.00pm from Tuesday to Saturday. Our usual menus will be available from 12.00 mid-day. Come and join us, you won't be disappointed.

Here it is. Our Christmas day menu at Giovanni's for December 2018. Bookings are being taken now and places are filling up fast. Last year we were sold out and turning people away. You can choose your time between 12.00 and 4.00 and the table is yours for the afternoon. Bookings being taken on 0191 4892690. A small deposit is required to secure your booking. Book early, you will not be disappointed.

Went with family for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed service was very good and the food was also good as I’m a celiac and can only have gluten free Sunday lunch was fab gravy to die for and is g/f only thing was I couldn’t have the Yorkshire pudding but that isn’t a problem . I have also been and had Italian food 🥘 great as they do g/f pasta we will be back lovely place

We've just been in tonight for our daughters 8th birthday, not sure of their names but the 2 blonde girls who served our table were so friendly! You managed to squeeze a table of 15 in with hardly any notice and the food was absolutely delicious. Thanks again

We ordered Afternoon tea for 3 plus a child’s meal and can honestly say it was delicious very tasty loads selection of savoury/sweet and worth every penny. We have recently been to martinos 4 times my 50th.friends 50th.mothers day and on sat husbands 50th.(party of 15) we had a fabulous time and delicious food too.your staff went above and beyond to make it special for us.i would highly recommend you to family and friends. One of our favourite restaurants. There were ten of us today and we honestly couldn't have received better food or service anywhere. We had Sunday lunches and the food and service was second to none. The staff were really patient and accommodating. Everything is simply lovely and very reasonably priced too. I couldn't recommend this enough.

Lovely tasty food and amazing staff Been on a few occasions but especially greatful for lovely lady yesterday when we got caught in blizzard She, and the owners, we're amazing esp with my frozen 3 year old; warmed her up, cheered her up And fed us well �

Just wanted to say thanks to all of the staff working today - we had a party of 36 in for a Primary School Leavers and they were spot on with everyone , the meals were absolutely beautiful too �

I went here last night with my husband, son and dad for my son's 21st and we absolutely loved it. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I had the chicken with king prawns in lobster bisque with chips and onion rings and couldnt fault it followed by eton mess with pouring cream absolutely gorgeous will definitely be back luv Helen Lincoln xx

I come here quite regularly & have never been unsatisfied. The food is so nice especially the Sunday dinners! Nicest around.

Thought I would treat my nana to the Afternoon Tea for her Birthday, wow was so good, loads of variety to eat and they even made up a kids one for my 3 year old he thought it was great! They even bagged his left overs for him to snack on at home. Highly recommend the staff are all so welcoming and friendly. Prices are so reasonable and food is lush

Had our wedding party here yesterday. 19 adults & 13 kids. The food all came very fast. All our guests had a fantastic time and lots commented on how great the food was. Special Thankyou to Victoria Wilson who looked after us all. Special touches like adding table decorations etc. Made our day that little bit extra special.

First time visiting here yesterday tea-time for a 16yr old's birthday meal. Lovely decor, spacious and nice atmosphere. The staff were very attentive to our needs and friendly. Most of us ordered from the Happy Hour Menu at 2 courses for £5.95. I had the potato skins with garlic dip followed by penne carbonara. Delicious! For an extra £3 we could choose a range of desserts. I had the chocolate orange cheesecake, again delicious! I'm returning next week with family for the Xmas Fayre Menu and can't wait. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely amazing experience dining at this restaurant today. The staff was extremely friendly and we'll mannered. Very professional with a spice of fun. I was with 2 young children and not once felt out of place. Fantastic meals and good portion size and the price was very cheap. Food was very fresh and extremely tasty. Totally recommend this restaurant to all ages for any occasion. Well done 5* from me x

Love this restaurant, we visit quite regular, food is delicious, staff are attentive and nothing is too much trouble. The only thing I would improve are the seats, you sit down and you sink right into them, so you feel quite low at the tables when eating your meal.

Have been here several times and really enjoyed it. We went last night without booking.Previously there had been a happy hour and special menu however appears that this is no longer the case. We ordered potato skins for starters and we're disappointed when they came as for the price £4.45 there wasn't many at all.Also not a big garlic dip fan but this was the only option available. The mains (carbonara and lasagne) were nice however the lasagne was a bit too well done on the edges for my liking.

Pre booked family meal the service was atrocious and food not much better the steaks were good bolognase pizza was awful absolutely tasteless won't be back. I've been on several occasions when it was lovely don't know why but it's definitely gone down hill !!!!

The staff are lazy, unwelcoming, sloppy. As a waitress I can see this place is half arsed and as for the kitchen, they are dressed in shorts, a clear sign not much real cooking occurs. Their radio was turned up so high that it drowned out the restaurant music and talking. The food was very average, nothing better than you could get in any Italian or even some pubs. The cutlery is in one of those school dinner style racks, so pathetic. The waitress said there was no strawberry and lime cider so offered to mixed a berry cider and strongbow....really? The waitress had absolutely no idea what the food was so just called it “the one with mussels”. Overall it’s just poor.

I have used Martinos frequently but will not be going back again. We sat and waited and had to ask for drinks as noone appeared to be serving us. I totally understand it was busy when we went it so i kept my opinion to myself. We were given a menu on Mothers Day 12/03/2018 only to wait 20 minutes to be asked what we wanted. We were NOT offered a choice of menu!! After our food we waited a further 20 minutes for the plates to be cleared away and then a further 10 minutes before i started to get agitated. At this point the venue was practically empty so it wasnt about the level of customers any more. We had to ask the waitress to take our dessert choices...all I am going to say is she was damn right bloody rude. Martinos was lovely....Courtyard Bistro your service is awful...sort it out before you lose loads of your customers. I paid the bill so i could get out of there...all your other customers were offered sweets...not us!!! Definitely will NOT go back...one very unhappy customer as u ruined my Mothers Day treat
